Think of Mont Tremblant as a Canadian ski holiday with an Alpine flavor. The mountain ski resort (with its own pedestrian village) and city of Mont-Tremblant all share a name. And while they're pretty close to one another, the same-name thing can cause some confusion among first-time visitors. The city's quaint downtown (known until 2000 as St-Jovite, to add to the mix-ups) has a cluster of hotels in its center and a number on its outskirts. But the biggest number of hotels are near the ski resort, a bustling village of restaurants and shops catering to that slope-loving crowd. If you're OK staying outside these major hubs, you'll find some additional gems--resorts and lodges perched along the picture-perfect shores of nearby smaller lakes like Lac Mercier, Lac Superieur, and Lac Ouimet.
