Long wait to see the pandas
We visited here on a lovely sunny November day. It was very busy, but the queue to buy tickets wasn't too bad. Once inside, we established that the wait to see the pandas was 90 mins! We just didn't have time for that. It's such a shame. We saw plenty of other animals, including an elephant, bison, loads of different kinds of monkeys, and a few others. As some others have said, some of the enclosures are not very big and it was a bit sad in places but I have no doubt the animals are cared for.

    It was a good time!!
I wrote one of my first reviews almost 10 years ago on the Central Park Zoo and the title was “really amazing zoo” and back then I didn’t add any jokes in my reviews and I didn’t use the usual sentence ending I use!! I have gone through my phases of life and my reviews have gotten way more crazy as time has gone on!! I think my reviews are kind of like the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie where the kids start off normal but end up with crazy fates!! I am going on this rant for no reason whatsoever but I went here today with three dudes who live in my dorm and also go to TUJ!! We were going to go this Tuesday but it will be closed so we went today!! It was only 600 yen which is 4 dollars and the Central Park Zoo is 20 dollars so New Yorkers know how to rip off tourists!! They had a lot of animals and I saw a gorilla which is one of my favorite animals and also tigers and polar bears and bison!! It was a good time!!

Good range of animals to see but the enclosures are far too small and dirty
Ueno park is a huge space with lots of shrines, museums and the zoo. The zoo itself is divided into two main areas, the highlights being the Giant Pandas, tigers (with cubs) and other large animals. Plenty of restrooms, shops and two cafes serving decent food. However, the animal enclosures were too small for the size of the animals, and their conditions were quite dirty. The penguin pool was especially small but all the big animals like the polar bear, elephants and pandas were in areas far too small.

    Old Large zoo
They do need to update the cage sizes but overall, very nice big zoo. My favorite part was seeing the red pandas. Easy to get there. Once you leave the station , the zoo is a very distance away.

    Excellent zoo experience!
Went to this zoo mid day with my 13 year old son. Located in the middle of a lush beautiful park. There were essentially no lines. A huge variety of very unique animals. So clean!!!! I do not like zoos but I sincerely enjoyed experiencing this with my son. I highly recommend it.

    Great zoo!
I went to the zoo today around 1 PM. It was a very clean zoo and had a huge amount of animals. There were enough places to rest and refill your water bottle. The zoo was very easy to navigate, even though there were a lot of people. The zoo is divided into 2 bigger landmasses. You can take a bus to the other side or walk. Something very special was the huge pond. You could stand there, and take in the silence, and hear nature. It was a nice break from the crowd and the noise of Tokyo. Sadly, I could not visit the Great Panda. They had a huge queue because there was an event around 3:15 PM. The ticket was 600 yen, and I stayed for 3-4 hours. I strongly recommend buying the tickets online. You can skip the queue at the entrance. (You can buy them on their Homepage with a credit card)

First time to see rare animals
We were very excited to see Pandas for the first time and we got our wish. The zoo is very well laid out. Lots of walking but in a very cool and beautiful landscape. The enclosures seemed very well well thought through for the comfort of the animals. We saw different types of bears, tigers, pandas and gorillas. They also had a petting zoo for kids. A fun treat was corn dogs at the snack stand. My son says its the best he has ever had. You can be the judge of that! Overall an educational and fun experience.
