Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens’ dramatic landscape, combined with large-scale exotic, sub-tropical planting, provides the backdrop to contemplative and inspiring art by internationally renowned artists. A major attraction near Penzance in West Cornwall, Tremenheere can be found in a beautiful sheltered valley, overlooking St Michael’s Mount, with woods and a stream, interwoven with an evolving programme of contemporary artwork. The creations of artists such as James Turrell, David Nash, Richard Long, Tim Shaw and Peter Randall-Page interact with the setting to create site-specific permanent work, which harmonises with the landscape. Within this breath-taking location, Tremenheere hosts its sculpture garden, gallery, shop, nursery and restaurant.

The Exchange is a major contemporary art space in the centre of Penzance that opened in 2007 in conjunction with renovations to Newlyn Art Gallery. Together the galleries present contemporary work in all media by regional, national and international artists, with a programme of events, activities and education. Formerly the town’s telephone exchange, the huge space retains the original industrial feel of the building and features a large t-shaped gallery and a striking glass facade that runs the entire length of the building. Its international reputation allows it to bring some of the best art being produced around the globe to Cornwall. The Exchange is located off historic Chapel Street, within easy walking distance of the bus and train stations. There is a well-stocked book and gift shop plus a cafe serving snacks and light lunches. Well behaved dogs are welcome.

A large contemporary, independent art gallery established in 2006, set out over 3 floors in a listed building. The gallery represents established and emerging artists and specialises in painting, sculpture, ceramics and artist made jewellery, with an emphasis on a Cornish connection. Artists include Neil Pinkett, Kristin Vestgard, Maggie Matthews, Alasdair Lindsay, Daphne McClure & others

Visit Hendra Studio where Stephen works. There is no pressure to purchase a painting, just enjoy viewing his work and chatting to the artist. A couple of miles from Penzance the studio is situated in a delightful, wooded setting. Take the A3071 St. Just road. Turn right at Tremethick Cross heading for Trengwainton gardens. Half a mile at the bottom of the hill on the left is a gate house and signs for Hendra. When he’s there there will be a sign to that effect. No sign, he’s not there! Follow the lane to the top being aware of speed bumps. The studio is at the top on the right where there is ample parking. The studio will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 11.0am until 3.0pm for the foreseeable future.
