Excellent menu and excellent service. We arrived for breakfast at 10am, toured the gardens and couldn’t resist staying for lunch. - suzannahannazusExeter, United Kingdom47 contributionsMesmerising Sculptures and Beautiful ViewsStunning gardens which we visited during a short break to Cornwall. We spent about 2 hours here, although if it was a sunnier day we most likely would’ve stayed longer and brought a picnic. Admission was more than other gardens, but it’s such a unique place and is well worth a visit. The cafe closed before we left at around 3.30pm, but we would have stopped for coffee had it been open.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 20 March 2024
- Cotsboho1,422 contributionsI loved itI loved Tremenheere! A friendly welcome at the ticket office where they issue a ticket that allows you to re-enter if you want to take a break in the cafe and then explore some more. They also give you a handy map to help explore and this clearly shows which paths are laid and which are rougher and include steps. It's a fair climb to the top, but there are lots of places to sit if you need a breather. The sculptures are varied and there are some fabulous views of Mounts Bay and St Michael's Mount - great photo opportunities. There is also a lovely quiet reflection space, by the pond The garden setting is beautiful, especially if your preference is for gardens that are not "over manicured" This is definitely a place I will revisit through the seasons There is a cafe, which I will review separately, and a small shop. The shop had interesting things but by the time I had explored and also had coffee the shop had closed (mid afternoon) which was a shame. All in all well worth a visitVisited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 30 March 2024
- Chris and JeanDerbyshire, United Kingdom586 contributionsImpressive, but unsuitable for those with limited mobilityVery attractive sculpture park on a hillside inland from Longrock (between Penzance and Marazion). Easy enough to get to by car but needs a little thought if you’re relying on the excellent bus service. We caught the #16 bus from Penzance bus station at 10.30 (next at 11.30), with the return at 14.05 giving us just the right amount of time (next at 16.05). Cafe is very smart but doesn’t do lunchtime snacks, only a luncheon menu, so if you only want sandwiches you’ll need to bring your own to eat in the grounds (lots of seats and gazebos towards the upper part of the site). The gardens are definitely NOT suited to anyone with limited mobility (or wheelchairs). There’s a hefty gradient and lots of steps, and in consequence even a number of the paths described as “Step free and easier access paths” turn out to be effective cul-de-sacs. My wife walking with two sticks only managed the woodland walk, which unfortunately was the least interesting part of the site sculpture-wise. I had a quick whizz round most of the site and my lack of prior knowledge meant I looked at the pieces I passed with few preconceptions (meaning I either liked them or I didn’t!), but having since spotted an article* in the American magazine 'Sculpture' I think I’d have benefited had I read it beforehand. [*Trying to be helpful I did include the link, but TA in their infinite wisdom thought it was advertising and blocked it, so if you're interested you'll just have to search yourself for sculpturemagazine + tremenheere ...]As the gardens at Tremenheere are situated on a steep slope we don't advise wheelchair access. We do have a step-free route marked on our map to try and make it as accessible as we can in the circumstances. We also have a gallery, plant nursery and shop also on site near the restaurant for people to enjoy during their visit and these are all on the level and are accessible.Written 1 July 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 May 2024
- AWebb2014Southampton, United Kingdom68 contributionsA surprise find that didn't disappointAfter driving past due to roadwork diversions we looked this garden up on line and decided to visit. We were so glad we did. Just outside of Penzance the gardens have ample parking, allow dogs on leads and have lots to see. There is a cafe which has comfortable outside seating, a shop and a quirky succulent store and plant nursery. You go through the nursery to reach the entrance to the garden. The garden climbs up the slopes of the valley, some of the paths are steep but they are well maintained, with mixed surfaces such as gravel and boardwalk. There are plenty of viewpoints within the park and as the gardens rise you get beautiful views over to St Michael's Mount. The sculptures are varied and interesting. I would allow a good hour and a half to walk around the site, longer if you enjoy the seating areas. There are plenty of these if you find the going hard. Try to make it to the top to experience James Turrell's Tewlwolow Kernow (Skyspace), it is superb, enjoy a quiet moment in this special space. The garden is very well maintained and is well worth a visit. We will return.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 May 2024
- Cosmopolitan5475294 contributionsWonderful!Fascinating sculptures, gorgeous setting and gardens and a fab succulent shop to boot. Don’t miss the installation created from a Victorian water tank-sublime! Just glorious, from start to finish! - Rachel JStroud, United Kingdom35 contributionsA stunning oasisWe visited this wonderful place after my husband saw a programme about the sculpture gardens on a Rick Stein programme. I didn’t really have any expectations but was absolutely stunned by this glorious and extensive oasis. Wherever you looked there were sublime vistas encompassing an extraordinary array of planting with sculptural curios nesting within. The site was so much bigger than I imagined and wandering up through the trees to emerge on the lofty slopes where we were at the same height as the trees gave view to St Michael’s Mount in the misty distance. A particular highlight was the Skyspace which I can only begin to describe - an underground light chamber of peace, tranquility and purity. It was simply spectacular and a gentle amble of 2 hours wasn’t nearly long enough to explore the glory in all its entirely. We didn’t eat here but the menu at the cafe looked completely delicious and there are picnic tables available if you bring your own (always a big thumbs up if you are on the budget). One of the loveliest places I have had the fortune of visiting and we shall certainly be back.We are so glad you enjoyed your visit to Tremenheere. We spent hours wandering around looking at all the sculptures not wanting to miss anything. Beautiful planting, little ponds some with seating areas and magical views across to St Michael’s Mount. - Rebecca HWhitstable, United Kingdom3 contributionsPerfect location for intimate weddingWe got married in the treehouse pagoda at Tremenheere. The experience was first class. We loved every second of it and would love to come back again to explore the gardens properly. The view of St Michael's Mount is a lovely element. The pagoda is beautiful in it's simplicity and the staff were helpful but not imposing.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 21 June 2024
- Sarah WExeter, United Kingdom6 contributionsA lovely dayWe went as a family with a two year old, there are some steep hills in the gardens it's self but we carried our son up them. We had a lovely day and ate lunch at the garden kitchen. Delicious food and great service. Treated ourselves to some new plants at the nursery as well. Didn't get round to look at the art gallery but will do another time as we would love to visit again.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 July 2024

- Stephen Felstead HotelsVisit Hendra Studio where Stephen works. There is no pressure to purchase a painting, just enjoy viewing his work and chatting to the artist. A couple of miles from Penzance the studio is situated in a delightful, wooded setting. Take the A3071 St. Just road. Turn right at Tremethick Cross heading for Trengwainton gardens. Half a mile at the bottom of the hill on the left is a gate house and signs for Hendra. When he’s there there will be a sign to that effect. No sign, he’s not there!
