This is one of the top museums in London and it is free! Would highly recommend looking at the museum map ahead of time and figuring out which areas you would like to see as after a while it can become very overwhelming as there is a lot of objects to see. I always bring people to the Raphael Cartoon room, the Medieval and Renaissance rooms and the Europe History rooms.

The Victoria and Albert Museum is one of the largest decorative arts and design museums in the world. Its collection is HUGE - some 2 million items. There are innumerable galleries, identified by geographical region or country (Japan, China, Islamic Middle East, South Asia) or by theme (design, clothing design, jewellery etc). You won't be able to see everything in a single visit. There are some exquisite items, such as the incredible Ardabil carpet, one of the oldest recorded carpets in the world (only illuminated for some minutes on the hour and half hour). Entrance is free, and there is a convenient underground access tunnel from South Kensington Tube station.

The V And A has a rather confusing layout, so it’s best to either buy a guidebook (£6] or a map (£1 donation) to help you navigate the exhibits. It’s a large museum, so you probably won’t have time to see it all and take it all in during one visit. Pick your areas of interest and concentrate on those. I enjoyed the vast Raphael cartoons, the paintings and the jewellery collections.

I went to the last free time of my business trip. Unfortunately, there were not many tourists, probably because of the rain, so I could watch it slowly. Since there are many exhibits, I think it is better to narrow down what you want to see first before going. There are a variety of souvenirs, so it is fun just to look at them. Christmas ornaments were on clearance sale. We had lunch at the museum's main cafe. The lunch we had inside the wall and ceiling decoration was exceptional and a good memory.

This museum is massive and could take half a day to see properly. It has collections from most countries all over the world, I really liked the collections from Japan, Korea, the jewels and silver and also the sculpture hall was pretty cool. There was a whole section on fashion, technology and developments to the modern world, an ancient library which you are allowed to sit and read in, and a when we went the Naomi fashion collection was ongoing. Free to enter and there is also a massive cafe too. Overall a great museum if you are interested in history and ornaments.

We actually just came here for lunch because the cafes were said to be picturesque which they were, and it was close to where we were staying. Rick Steves guidebook described it as a museum for decorative arts which didn't catch my interest, but was not a good description at all. We probably only had time to explore a quarter of the museum but what we saw was very interesting and worth a visit. I would describe it as more of a cultural museum with displays from all over the world. They had an amazing collection of buddhas and Hindu artwork from Asia, a codex notebook of Leonardo da Vinci, a chest of relics of Thomas Beckett, huge jewelry display as well as fashion displays. What I thought was really cool were two huge rooms with life size copies of sculptures and monuments from other places such as Michelangelo's David from Florence & Moses from Rome, a couple of representations of David & Goliath (one of the Borghese in Rome), Trajans Column (in 3 pieces to fit), and many others.

Absolutely blown away by the scale and beauty not only with the objects on display but the building itself is incredible every tiny corner is amazing. Visited the museum 3 times while in London during my trip to try and take it all in and that’s without even having time to see any of the exhibitions like Elton John or Naomi Campbell’s. Transport to the museum is plentiful and I never needed to book ahead of time I just turned up each time there’s a cloakroom available for a charge near the entrance handy on a hot day for ditching your jacket as the rooms do get very warm. Do take bottled water with you. There’s a lovely restaurant and cafe on site for refreshments. If you’re a member of other V&A sites you’ll get a discount at this site. The stained glass as the sun shone in I will never forget truly breathtaking as was the first time seeing the ceramics on floor 4 in the curved cabinet being in the room alone seeing that is just jaw dropping. So many things in this museum just took my breath away the Freddie Mercury vanity cases truly gorgeous the detail in them. Not to mention every single member of the V&A team that I spoke to so helpful and knowledgeable they really make the whole experience even more enjoyable.

Loved the V&A museum but would have to say that some of the exhibits are very dark and it's difficult to see the intricate detail. I understand that the light may fade fabric or paintings but surely there is a better way to show some things without damaging it otherwise we're not getting the best experience. The food looked amazing in the cafe and it wasn't amazingly crowded there but we didn't eat there only because we wanted to try the little cafes as we were walking around. The jewellery exhibit was amazing, such stunning and intricate pieces of jewellery. It's free entry so I would always say give it a go, it's worthwhile and you have nothing to lose.
