The railway station (Zürich HBF) is huge. The Tourist Information Centre is on the ground floor, near the exit. It is a bit hidden, but the reference is the colorful sculpture of an angel - a gift to celebrate the 150th anniversary of HBF. There, the attendants are friendly and helpful. One can purchase transportation tickets and get information on what to see and do considering the time available. As we arrived in the afternoon we were advised to take a train to Uetliberg, a mountain that allowed us to have a beautiful view of the city and the Alps in the distance. The Kunsthaus (museum of art) must be seen. Very organized, it displays some paintings by Van Gogh, Renoir Monet and other Impressionist painters, plus a few paintings by Marc Chagall and Edvard Munch. In the late afternoon I recommend walking up to the Lindenhof, a high point where you have a beautiful view of the centre and the Limmat River to the twilight. On the descent, the possibility of taking ice cream at Schokokuss. But before that, stroll through the Niederdorfstrasse, a bohemian street full of restaurants and bars Another interesting tour is to follow the limmat river in the morning and then to the Bürkliterrasse on the lake. There is the FIFA museum, which can be fun for the children and the younger, who do not know the history of football, but there is not much news for the older ones. Still, it is worth visiting, as there is a lot of reference to Brazilian football from other times. To talk and drink something at night I would indicate the Milchbar, whose service is very good. Aconselho chegar cedo. It is worth walking the Predigargasse and adjacent streets. On the way there is the Zentralbibliothek, large and beautiful. It was a Sunday, but the study tables were almost entirely occupied by students. The silence caught attention, quite the opposite of what would be expected here. Near the Predigargasse there is an Italian canteen, the “Always”. The dishes and the house wine are good; even though not being generous portions, they are enough to kill the hunger. The price is not so high (96 CHF for 4 people), the environment is pleasant and you can listen to recordings of romantic Italian music.

This is a excellent diversion while shopping with a family. The stained glass by Marc Chagall are exquisite. The price is cheap, 5 francs and children and students are free. The crypt is also brief and fun. Most families will spend 20 minutes inside. 10 francs for the whole family to get out of the cold, is excellent.

This church was a convent prior to being converted to a church. It has a rich history and the organ is massive. My favorite part of visiting was the Chagall windows. They are stunning and it is amazing how he made these when he was 70 years old. The windows tell their own story, The prophet, Jacob, Christ, Zion and the commandments. There is a crypt in the church and a room of silence. I enjoyed my time there.

If you have to choose one of the churches to visit in Zurich choose this one. The most important are all very close to the center of Zurich but the advantage of visiting the Fraumünster is that it has all the more classic features of the churches of German Switzerland, which are: Glasses by 2 famous artists: Chagall e Giacometti Crypt with the origin of church construction Abbey - Choir and Organ Information panel of important items Audio Guide included in the entry which costs 5 CHF And the best has a brochure that they deliver at the entrance which is in Portuguese.

Just to see the Chagall and Giacometti windows is reason enough to dwell in this beautiful holy place. But there is so much more here to experience. Such as the fascinating Crypt Museum. On the west side of the River, it is an outstanding and treasured historic emblem of the city.

Founded as a Convent in 853 AD, the Fraumunster has a chequered history. In 1400's the Church was rebuilt first in Romanesque and subsequently in Gothic Styles. At the Reformation in 1524 the Abbey was handed to the City of Zurich. There are numerous points of interest in the Church, however it is the Organ and, of course, the windows by Marc Chagall and Augusto Giacometti which hold the most interest. A visit to this Church is not to be missed.

Chagall Windows and Church are outstanding. A must see for all Christians. 5 Francs to get in and 2 Francs for the Audio Tour. You must spend an hour listening to the in depth audio. No tour groups allowed which is really nice.
