Hotels near The Vaka Cruise

The ‘must do’ day lagoon cruise aboard the Polynesian style Vaka Teariki Moana. Every morning at 10am Mondays to Saturdays, the sound of the conch shell signals the departure of the Vaka for six hours of lagoon magic. There’s snorkelling, swimming and sunbathing to do before tucking into to an island barbecued lunch of fresh caught ocean fish served on board and accompanied by a full bar service. Visit several motu (small islets) and beach comb at One Foot Island before returning past the old TEAL flying boat base. Impromptu entertainment by the crew will have you tying pareu, weaving coconut leaf plates or humming island tunes. Tour includes pickup from your accommodation on Aitutaki. Resorts and Hotels on O'otu Peninsula are within easy walking distance from the departure point and the Vaka docks directly at the Aitutaki Lagoon Resort and Spa to pick up guests from there. We look forward to take you to the magic that is Aitutaki's lagoon.

    A great day out!
A great day out on the lagoon. The crew provided music while we sat back and enjoyed the views. We went snorkeling at two locations. There are giant trevally at one of the locations that the crew feed so we can swim with them which was quite cool! We saw a few turtles from the boat as well. Lunch was delicious. I recommend doing a private tour if feasible, but overall the vaka cruise was great!

    Excellent Aitutaki experience. Highly recommend.
The flight to aitutaki was short and smooth. We were welcomed by our tour guide (Ali) from The Vaka Cruise. Started the tour with a trip around the island. Ali was very informative and funny. Definitely a place to relax. The island tour was followed by the island cruise with The Vaka Cruise. Ali and the rest of the crew from The Vaka Cruise were wonderful. We had 3 stops on different islands and the meal provided was amazing with lots of traditional salads. The lovely singing from the crew, kept us all entertained. Ali was very knowledgeable and was sharing history of the islands we visited. He also made the cruise rules very clear, keeping in mind everyone’s enjoyment and safety. Plenty of time for snorkelling, beautiful clams and fishes to see. Would highly recommend the day tour with the cruise, or even spend a few days at Aitutaki. Money well spent! Definitely one for the books

    Beautiful day on Aitutaki
We flew from Rarotonga to Aitutaki for the day tour. Toured around the island of Aitutaki where Ali guided and gave us insight and information on the island. Followed by a Vaka cruise around the beautiful lagoon. Visited surrounding islands where we snorkelled and and walked. The Kai and crew were amazing. Would definitely recommend. We will be back ✨🌺

Had the best day and the best experience. The Vaka cruise of the Aitutaki lagoon has to be one of the best highlights of any holiday i have had. The boat cruise, staff and entertainment was second to none. Thank you

    Wonderful Lagoon Cruise
A wonderful day out on the lagoon. Fabulous boat with plenty of seating under the shade………and loungers in the sun. Towels, fins, masks and snorkels all provided. On board toilets and the luxury of a couple of showers for anyone wishing to shower off after snorkelling ( some of the guests were on a day trip from Rarotonga) Paul, our guide was professional, knowledgeable and with just the right amount of humour. He was attentive and encouraging to those not confident in snorkelling. In fact all of the crew, were polite and professional ……oh and multi talented as musicians too. As a more mature solo female traveller I felt very safe. The lunch provided was delicious, very fresh with a varied choice of salads, fruits and grilled tuna. Tea, coffee and water were available all day. Looking at the other trip boats when moored up at one foot island the Vaka Cruise boat was definitely the best! Didn’t want the day to end

    Breathtaking!
We booked the Aitutaki Day Tour from Rarotonga, the main part of which was the Vaka Cruise. A fabulous experience in a breathtaking part of the world. Fantastic people, food and the most comfortable boat. Everything was flawless from beginning to end. Thank you so much for a lovely day. Highly recommend this trip!

    Heaven on Earth!
No words can truly describe how amazing Aitutaki is. We did the day trip from Rarotonga & were picked up at the airport for a tour of the island before setting off on the Vaka for our cruise out to a number of small islands. One foot island is a dream, & the only regrets we had was not taking our children & leaving the place! Crew was fantastic, helpful, entertaining & made the trip even more amazing!

    The Pearl of Aitutaki
Our experience with the Vaka Cruise was nothing short of fabulous! The crew were all so welcoming, had tons of fun energy, and wonderful singing voices! The food was delicious, fresh, and healthy. Snorkeling was great! This tour was hands down our favorite activity we did in the Cook Islands. I highly recommend staying a few days on Aitutaki, we were so happy to have more time on such a beautiful, laid back island.

    Paradise
Aitutaki lagoon is truly breathtaking, a myriad of different hues of blue, shimmering white sands set against the lush green palms and tropical plants. The water was so warm and it was amazing to actually experience walking along a sandbar instead of seeing other peoples videos and photos. Ali certainly made the day with his humour, banter and local knowledge. His awesome crew put on amazing food and entertainment. The buffet lunch provided included a lot of local fare - just try a little bit of everything, you will not be disappointed. Overall a fantastic way to spend the day on this beautiful island.
