Once a downtrodden corner of downtown Barcelona, this gritty area has seen a cultural resurgence boasting an excellent nightlife and one of the most multi ethnic spots in the entire city. A sense of humble authenticity protrudes from the many independent record stores, second hand shops, and student bars that seem to light up the streets day and night. The rocking epicenter, the MACBA Plaça, is a modern day forum for bohemian youth, abuzz with the sights and sounds of late-night gatherings and talented skateboarders showing off their latest tricks.
A must for anyone with an interest in architecture and modern building design. No lines, no crowds-and be amazed. My teenager was glued to the audio guide, and said it was a top 2 thing to do in this town.

"Wonderful place to visit"

Amazing architecture, gardens and story of early 20th entury approach to hospitals and patient care. There is a lot written information as you follow route around renovated parts of buildings and grounds and no real need for the audio guide which I paid for. I enjoyed visit here more than La Sagrada Familia, far less crowded and much better value.
Like others, we actually found the little church of Sant Pau de Camp by stumbling on it when we were in the Raval district. I'm very happy we did! It is a beautiful small church still in use. May you also get lost and in the process find this little gem!
This is not the original pavilion, but an exact replica recreated in the same spot that the original was in. It is an important milestone in 20th Century architecture. The interior is not large, so cheapskates can just view the outside and imagine the interior through the windows. It is fun to think that this building went up while other...
We're just from a fabulous meal at La Gastronomica. We had the pork ribs, fillet of beef, eggs with ham, bravas & the cod - see pic of cod. All the dishes were perfectly prepared, cooked & presented. Flavours were sublime - our favourites being the cod & also the eggs & ham. We had just 1 dessert between the...

"A trip around the world"

In Chaka Khan they offer this amazing idea of trying different dishes from exotic places around the world, while you can also see the cooks at work. We had dinner at the restaurant on the upper floor and ordered a tasting menu that included 6 dishes, everything was well presented and delicious (except the dessert, which wasn't really the best...
We had dinner last night at Cera 23, from the start a great place with better service and perfect attention all the time. Santi was really kind all the time and made the best recommendations for our dinner, cecina, tartar and black rice, everything unbelievable. If you are in Barcelona is the place to be for a great meal!
"Excellent and not too far from Palau Guell, Las Ramblas"

Stopped by here with a friend for tapas in the afternoon. We paid 11,50 each and we got to choose 3 tapas + a drink and dessert or coffee. I chose the hummus served with some differently seasoned and spiced slices of toasted bread, soup of the day which was Gazpacho, and a kind of pastry with cheese and onions...
We traveled to Barcelona on a whim. It's a cool old port city that has a great old world vibe, casual beaches, friendly people, great architecture and a maze of street cafes in the Gothic Quarter that could last you a lifetime. It also has Casa Camper, which is hands down the coolest hotel we've ever stayed in.
We’ve just returned from an absolutely fabulous long weekend in Barcelona at Hotel 1898.
The hotel is ideally located to soak up the unique atmosphere that is Barcelona.
Staff are friendly and efficient. The room immaculate and well appointed with the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in.
Breakfast although an extra and a little pricey was vast, varied...
My husband and I went to Barcelona for only 3 days and location was a pretty important feature for us and Midmost hotel has it. It is located near Las Ramblas, where there is tons of restaurants and very close by the subway. But what was the differential for me was the smell of the hotel. Thats right! The lobby...
we have just got back from our 5th stay here, and going back next year, that says a lot for the jazz hotel.
very good location, very clean hotel with friendly helpful staff. brilliant rooftop bar and pool.
We enjoyed our 5 night stay in a two bedroom apartment at Hostal Grau. Accommodations were nice and the staff was very kind and helpful in every way. Our apartment was good for two adults and two college age kids. Much more homey and useful than getting two hotel rooms in our view. The location is very good and walks...
