Beyond the four columns standing guard at the Plaça Espanya, beyond even the extravagant and colourful fountains guiding your way up the boulevard, stands the impressive and towering structure of the Palau Nacional, the national museum. At this very spot in front of the cascades of the central fountain, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe gave the performance of their lifetimes to welcome the 1992 Olympic Games to this magnificent city. And true to its anticipation, the games transformed the city, reimagining the mountain of Montjuic with the development of an arena, stadium, and many other sporting facilities that are open to visitors year-round. Surrounding the adjacent side of the plaza are well-established hotels catering to business guests and a shopping mall transformed out of a historic bullfighting arena.
Visited the Magic Fountain last night after it was recommended by friends. So glad they told us about this. The combination of the colourful waters and music was quite something. Operates every evening except Monday and Tuesday. Best to arrive in good time to find a good place. Need to be a little closer to appreciate the music. Highly recommended...
You may need more than one day to see and appreciate what this place has to offer. Long walks with water features and unique flora and fauna. Theres lots of history to read about and its all free for the anyone interested.
Catalonia has a wealth of medieval frescoes, which were removed from their regional churches and brought here. You won't find a treasure like this elsewhere! The museum also houses excellent later medieval, renaissance and baroque art. We were impressed by the richness and depth of the collection. The restaurant serves an excellent lunch.
A beautiful cemetery. Lots of history.
We enjoyed strolling through all of the areas available.
This is a very large place, so having a car to drive to the different areas was a good idea.
They also provide a qr code that explains each important monument.

Pan & Cook is very delicate! Great Salad, starter with roquefort and pears in red wine and roquet salad, sea food in lime and of course the pan & cook, and a great homemade cake - nice and friendly place, fair prices, with simply good food!
Our last night in Barcelona post-cruise and we found La Platilleria by chance as it was close to our hotel (Hotel Grums). Staff was over the top helpful, the food was awesome, and the prices were reasonable. (Note: if you've never been to a tapas bar, order multiple items because the servings are small and are not meant to serve...
Hotel Brummell is charming, and it is for me very special place in Barcelona.
It was the second time to stay with Hotel Brummell.
The first time was for my birthday treat & this time was for my business trip.
For both case, I’ve found all the staffs were so helpful, sympathising to your occasions. Everyday, you’d wakeup with fresh...
Extremely nice hotel. Good location, great personnel. Reasonable prices. Clean and comfortable rooms. Gorgeous roof top terrace with a bar and live music at night. Highly recommended to anyone looking to stay in Barcelona.
The staff is very friendly, the rooms are nice and clean.
Breakfast is very good, enough variety to please everyone.
The only thing I would say I didn’t like were the bed sheets and blankets which I kind of separated.
We enjoyed our stay here very much. The rooms were spacious and modern, and the location was great. Very close to a metro stop, easy access to everything, and walking distance to La Rambla. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was great. The only downside was that I found the bed overly stiff and unforgiving, and...
Hotel was beautiful. Lovely balcony. King sized bed. Unique tub. Only regret was that we were staying only for one day. the only negative was that we had to wait until 3:00 to get into our room. Have to agree with other reviews that this hotel is way off the beaten path. However, we had done all of our sightseeing...
