Hip bars and galleries, independent theaters and music venues, young people with tattoos and funky hair, narrow winding streets — this is Malasaña. Near the center, Plaza Dos de Mayo is a gathering of friends outside bars, dog owners, artists under craft tents, and creative types with notebooks and sketchpads on the plaza’s benches. It may not be as neat and tidy as many other parts of the city, but this only adds to the Malasaña edge. Shops and bars here range from hippie-crunchy to upscale trendy, and on weekends, the streets are bustling around the clock as the nightlife progresses from dinner to bar to disco to late-night food. On the west side of the neighbourhood is the subdistrict called Conde Duque, named after a large pink fort in its center that has been converted into a cultural center for exhibitions and performances. Prettier yet just as edgy, this intimate corner of Malasaña is home to a young international community.
this is a must. a very plain exterior does not anticipate the marvellous decoration of the church depicting the miracle of San Antonio. You have to find the visiting times, but then you don't have to listen to some inept guide once you are inside. For a comparative study, it is worth visiting the church of San Antonio de la...
This little church is just off of Gran Via and is very underwhelming from it's corner position in an ordinary back street. However, like a lot of churches, do not be put off by the exterior as many are like this and are then just simply remarkable on the inside...this is one such church. All of it's walls and ceiling...
This is one of the nicest building on Gran Via - there is a contrast between its height and functionality and its design and beautiful architectural details. It is an historical building which construction ended in 1929.
Plaza del Dos de Mayo is popular local families with the kids playing on the facilities and people sitting on the many benches under trees. More intimate than many of the large stately squares in the city.
Cuartel del Conde Duque is a huge square building with a large central courtyard and impressive entrance. A public library is housed here with small exhibitions. as well as government buildings. Built in 1717 as a barracks for the Royal Guard.

"When in Spain"

I have absolutely no idea why I suddenly craved a burger when I only had one night in Madrid. Having said that, these people know how to make a burger. Excellent seasoned and perfectly done. I had been looking forward to tapas and sangria. Not a clue why I ended up here but glad I did.
This great little spot was a 2 minute walk from the apartment I was staying in for a weekend visit to Madrid. The place has an unreal selection of cake and that coming from someone who doesn’t particularly have a sweet tooth. There is also a good selection of coffees and fruit smoothies. We were a fan so visited again...

I’ve tried their burger without the bread and it was very juicy and delicious, their appetizers were also so nice specially the potatoes with cheese and beacon. The service is really good and food was ready in no time. The prices were a bit high but def worth it
My mom was visiting me in Madrid and my boyfriend and I took her here and we had such a good time! Although we tried many tapas, the ceviche and the ropa vieja taco were by far our favorites. If you go, make sure you make a reservation, as it is a very popular place!
Located at a perfect location in Madrid just next to Gran Via and all the touristic sites. The room was very clean, the bed big and comfortable and the heating worked great.
And above all was the great service from the hotel employees.
I usually prefer 5* star hotels, especially in southern regions. this time we tried this 4* star hotel and I have to admit, that we‘re amazed. the location was just perfect and so was the hotel and its stuff. it already started with the reservation. we had 2 special requests what the Atlantico realized without hesitation. sure u won’t find...

Our stay at the 7 Islas hotel in Madrid was terrific. We came in well before check-in time, but the staff made sure our room was ready within the hour. They held our luggage in the storage space with a lock, that we could open at any time.
The rooms were perfectly maintained and very clean. The hotel itself had...
