The area around the elegant Paseo del Prado boulevard is much-visited by both locals and tourists. The world-famous Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a triangle of art and culture that spans this grand and beautiful avenue. On weekdays, the Prado Museum opens its doors for free after-work hours, drawing a diverse and excited queue of art lovers that wraps around the block. Palacio de Cibeles and Círculo de Bellas Artes cultural centers are other artsy hangouts to check out, with rooftop bars that provide impressive views of the city. While the Paseo del Prado and its roundabouts form a busy throughway in Madrid, a broad green pedestrian park in the middle is a calm and gorgeous place for a relaxing stroll. Just east of the museums, the Retiro Park is always a confluence of activity as families and friends of all ages take to the pretty paths and lawns to stretch their legs or to have a picnic.
Quite a lot of interesting artwork! It is one of the most important museums in the world and it is just a must for any history and or art lover. If you want to see the whole museum you definitely need a whole day to explore!
I'm not an art lover, but having had Guernica displayed in my family home as a child, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see it in person. I really enjoyed the whole Picasso exhibit, complete with sketches and paintings that he completed in the work up to producing Guernica, and even some photos of him creating the actual piece....

We visited this museum during our recent visit to Madrid. Only €3 entry and so interesting!! The models of the boats through the centuries are incredible and also looking at the nautical tools and maps used to discover new lands gives such an insight into how incredible the explorers were!! Well worth a visit when in Madrid.
Took my family and friend from Russia and France to Sofia Reina museum and accidentally webt to this resto. Excellent food and excellent perosnell. The one of Gran via where I went the next day is total disappointment . So sick to this resto only . Nice Mexican burger and chicken wings with Nachos , very nice desserts

While we found the staff at this hotel extremely professional and personal, two in particular should be recognized by the hotel management and NH corporate staff as two of their finest and are the main reason we will choose NH COLLECTION hotels again. KATY and JOSE are without a doubt two the finest, or maybe the finest, two personnel my...
My daughter booked us two nights to spend with them on the last leg of their journey. Beautiful hotel and in a great location. Friendly helpful staff. Retiro park across the street and if your a shopaholic then the shops are less than a 10 minute walk away. Easy access at the end of the street to the metro so...
A hotel with good location, nice rooms and beds, wonderful breakfast (!). Thin walls in the rooms though so you hear your neighbors!
Great service, tidy, welleqiped! Splendid bathrooms!
A nice hotel worth it’s money
There are some unique and special properties around the world where the feeling of welcoming service transcends the threshold of excellence and The Ritz Madrid is one of those. The skilled and professional staff us the decisive factor fir this old Grand Dame to reach levels of hospitality affordable by few historical hotels, like The Oriental Bangkok or Le Montreux...
My husband and I stayed for 7 nights, originally I concerned about the safety issue, and the daily use items that hotel would provide. But the facts proved that I worried too much. It’s a very convenient location to everywhere in and near Madrid, and you can walk to many attractions. Hotel provided safety box in the room for small...
