Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
This very small sculpture is a bit hard to find, but if you look for the Finnish church close to the castle, you will find it in their yard. If possible go there when it is dark. Then a spotlight will shine on the boy and make it even more nice.
The church stands tall and high over other buildings in Gamla Stan. Was built to cater to the German community who exists in Stockholm. Look see, admire and be inspired to enter the church. Stay calm and peaceful.
Me and my husband are living in Sweden and my parents came for a visit, so we decided to take them to eat real Swedish food. We checked on TripAdvisor and this Gästabud is recommended. It is really good! The pork is tender and juicy and the meatballs are very Swedish. We tried the moose meat as a starter, and...

"Dinner with work friends"
reviewed 3 days ago by Gina M
First time in Stockholm working with a new team and after work we wanted to grab some dinner so we went on a walk and passed Corvina and it a quaint spot and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Women behind the bar recommended some great wines!
This place honestly was such a great experience. If you have enough time I would definitely recommend coming here for dinner however you need to make a booking to get in. As you walk down the stairs the Viking chief announces you and your guests in front of everyone in the restaurant and they all bang on the tables to...
On our recent visit to Stockholm we returned of course to The Hairy Pig! And again it gave us a reason to love it even more!!!!!!! The tasty tapas, the beautiful and cozy place, the friendly staff!!! Everything was perfect for one more time.... I can’t wait to go back to the best piggy ever !
This is a very quaint, historic hotel boasting an amazing display of naval memorabilia. Rooms are quite snug but lets face it, you will spending all your time wandering the streets of Old Town (shopping is very touristy), visiting the Royal Palace, eating out - I recommend Slinger Bulten, named after a dubious character, it literally translates to "Slippery Fish"....
Excellent location in Gamla Stan. The staff are excellent, very helpful and thoughtful. Breakfast was very good. The room was lovely and spacious and had lots of charm. No elevator in this lovely old building, but the staff are only too happy to help with bags if needed.
"Fabulous location with lovely staff- beware of the church bells"

I will start with the great- the location (in medieval Gamla Stan) could not be better. It is an incredibly charming area right in the heart of the city and you can easily walk to the Kings Garden, sightseeing boats, Sodermalm etc.. The staff was lovely- very helpful. In addition, for those who are Jewish Sabbath-observers, the keys are the...
You may know the Scandic chain for mid-range, anonymous hotels with not much personality, but this one is different.
I think Scandic took over the place recently and they can't really redo much as it is situated in Stockholm's old centre ("Gamla Stan") surrounded by old 17th century houses and cobble stone streets.
So apart from the ghastly modern looking...
stayed here for 2 nights while in stockholm- very helpful staff, convenient location (tho not may not be accessible by taxi) place has a lot of charm, history which makes it a fun place to stay ...note beware of pickpocket in the area!..
