North of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Vienna suddenly turns small, winding and medieval, opening up to legendary places such as the Basilisk sculpture at Schönlaterngasse, as well as glamorous baroque façades, courtyards and churches. Take 45 minutes for a casual stroll through Bäckerstrasse, Sonnenfelsgasse, Köllnerhofgasse, Grashofgasse, and Schönlaterngasse. This quarter is packed with stories and legends that will enrich your Vienna experience.
"One of the five most beautiful churches in Vienna"

Located a short walk from the Cathedral. Definitely worth a visit. Admission is free but you can leave a small donation. Photos are allowed. The twin towers and façade are majestic but relatively plain. In contrast the interior is breath-taking. The highlight here is the tromp d’oeil dome – the allegorical ceiling frescoes are actually painted on a flat surface....

"Nice statue in front of the Regensburger Hof in Vienna"
reviewed 3 March 2018 by BradJill
The statue of Johannes Gutenberg is located at the Lugeck and Backerstrasse intersection in front of the attractive Regensburger Hof building, approx. 5 minutes walk northeast of Stephansplatz.
The bronze statue is the work of Austrian sculptor Hans Bitterlich in 1900. Here the 15th-century goldsmith and inventor is bearded with hat and overcoat, standing and peering downward. Gutenberg is positioned...
We bought the 3 days pass for 17 Euro, and had the unlimited trams ride around Vienna. The ring road tram line covered most places of interest in Vienna. It is so convenient to take trams around the city.
I do not have a picture but for a small fee you can go inside and see the Baroque style painting on the ceiling where they only sometimes have lectures. It is a definite to see if you are there and just amazing. Otherwise you will not appreciate the real beauty of the building.
We found this place while we were in Vienna for 2 days. It is a small place with only a few seats so if you're a bigger group, don't forget to book in advance to secure a table.
Only Austrian wines are served. People that work here have great knowledge of wine and are more than happy to talk about...

"Very good choice"
reviewed 1 week ago by Montreal_traveller09
We chose ef16 based on TA reviews and it was a good choice. The restaurant is very small with a cozy atmosphere, candles everywhere but the tables are also very close.
The food was very good (gnocchi, schnitzel, duck breast and sea bass, and pannacotta). The flavours were good but a bit subdued.
The wine by glass (local Riesling) was...

Probably the most creative of the Vienna restaurants we tried. Had a salad with goat cheese and raspberries that had a very strong raspberry flavor; and veal saddle with mushrooms, served with tiny zucchini and potatoes. Everything was very good. A companion had pepper stuffed with goat cheese and chicken served with a very good sauce. The meal was good,...
I'm not a fan of ice cream but this one is on another level. It's one of the best I have ever eaten (nutella and pistacchio). Also, this place is one of few ice cream shops which accept payment with credit card. We'll visit again anytime we're gonna be in the proximity.
Lovely place to stay where they've thought about everything to cater to your needs. Breakfast was also very good and the room clean. The hotel is also very central to get around the city and see the sights.
I stayed at the hotel for 6 days when I was in Vienna. The hotel is located near Stephanplatz (10 min walk). The airport taxis know the place and charge from 40 to 45 EUR for the ride.
The room was very nice and beautiful and had air conditioning (note: not all the rooms have air conditioning in older hotels...
A very elegant and charming boutique hotel in Vienna, conveniently located yet off the main streets. Great staff with excellent dinner recommendations. Clean well-appointed room, quite large compared to others I've stayed in.
"Excellent location, very nice although somewhat spartan hotel"
reviewed 1 week ago by FluvialMan
I booked at this hotel due to the combination of its good ratings along with the location and I was not disappointed. The location cannot be beat. As others have stated in their reviews, it is less than a block to the U-bahn and S-bahn stations at Schwedenplatz. I took the airport bus round trip which stops two blocks from...
Had high hopes for this hotel... but ... wasn’t all that. Staff is amazingly helpful. Rooms are clean. Beds are tough to get a good night sleep on. Bathrooms are tiny. Good location and close to some nice tourist spots. Breakfast is not very good, but close by pastry and coffee shops make up for it.
