Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
I had not visited here in 20+ years, and although it has been modernised, some parts seemed old and stuffy. Its nothing compared to the vast museums of London, Rome, Belgium etc, but certainly different with the large aboriginal displays and Pacific island exhibits.

To meet a magician in real life is amazing. The boy gets to touch the dove and rabbit, that, itself, is thrilling.
Hopefully, there will be more items and updates in the near future. Would love to go again and explore more.
This is an amazing place to visit, very inexpensive guided tour. Amazing historic buildings and just as an amazing history to go with them. Easy to get to from Sydney CBD, walk up from Museum Station or down from Kings Cross Station. Use the website to confirm tour date offerings, limited by numbers and only a few times a month,...
This park is small, but it has some amazing trees. Lots of people like to come here for a reprieve of the heat. Many lay down on the grass, either to read, watch, or sleep.
It has also a lovely gazebo.
I enjoyed the shade on this hot day. Next was to visit the Sydney’s Jewish Museum.
Enjoy the shade...
Has been many years since I was here and last night I found it was still pretty good. Though they may have slightly turned the heat down - particularly with the Bangalopre Masala Dosai which used to be much hotter. The goat curry was tops and in general all good.
We went here to celebrate a birthday, made a booking and thought the service, decor, ambience was very good. I had the olives to start which were great, mussels for the main which were pretty small but the pasta was great, and the recommended desert was "sickly sweet" for my taste buds. Other than that would recommend this restaurant. I...
We had made an online booking for the 3 of us, which was a good idea, because they can only seat about 30 people (apparently twice per night) and it was a full house on the Saturday night.
The place looks warm and cosy with an Indian (?) timber wall and atmosphere lightning. The waiter Tony was most friendly and...
WE enjoyed a 1 night stay at Medusa. Comfortable bed and well located with pubs, cafes and shopping centres a short walk. Room we had was as expected for a boutique hotel - small but comfy. Good sized TV, microwave etc and tidy bathroom. Very helpful staff.
As repeat visitors this hotel is constantly improving and overall, is a very pleasant and convenient Sydney base. I would certainly recomend it to other travellers looking for a reasonably priced, up to date and friendly place to stay whilst in Sydney.
- Great location on Hyde Park, near transport, Australia museum, Oxford st and much more
- Check in friendly and quick, but no one to assist with bags
- Large room with great views over park and city
- Beds comfortable & choice of pillows
- Effective black out curtains
- No noise from the street or neighbouring...
I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights, location is very accessible to most of the tourist spots "If you are willing to walk for 20 - 30 mins", there are restaurants, bars, convenient stores available across the street. I love the bed and linens trendy and clean. Room complimentary amenities are available such as shampoo, soap etc. helpful staff...
Room was large and (rear of building) quiet and well-appointed. Location is excellent, close to city, Oxford St, public transport. Continental breakfast included. Building is older-style (once a guesthouse?) but reasonably modern inside.
Do check out the parlour with musicians' signed photos!
