Khamovniki could be considered a city of its own – here it’s possible to find some of Moscow’s most important cultural institutions such as the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Novodevichy Convent and Trubetskikh Estate, great sport locations such as Luzhniki stadium and aqua complex, and long and beautiful Luzhniki embankment. Pick your preferred form of transport to explore the area – bicycle or river cruise during the summer and taxi in winter as many of the great places are situated beyond a short walk.

"Most Amazing Metro in the world!"
reviewed yesterday by 960shaid
The Moscow Metro is by far the most special, gorgeous, effective, and huge metro I've every experienced, in Europe or elsewhere.
Visit its stations ("palaces of the people") and take your time. No need to rush, as there are trains every 30 seconds! :-)
For an avid art lover, it's worth travelling ten thousand miles to visit this gem of a museum. Sourced from private collections and post war Germany, the collection is absolutely stunning richly studded with masterpieces that linger in one's memory long after leaving the museum. It's a wow sort of thing, nothing less.
"Fine experience, but without translator or knowledge of Russian you are quite limited"

Tolstoy is one of the most famous Russian writers known also abroad by some of his novels. In the museum his life is very well documented and it would be possible to spend here hours, but only if you can understand Russian. If not, a short glimpse is enough.
Interesting building, good exhibitions.
Easy to reach from Ostozhenka metro (10 minutes).
The best way to see everything - take an elevator to 7th floor and slowly go down to basement.
Picturing is allowed (without flashes as ussually).
Check the web-site for current expositions.
Pls note - you will not find cafe there, but there is plenty of them around...
Absolutely inspired by this place.
Everything starting from the interrior that is full of art pieces to the food was a very interesting experience.
Visited this place with my friends recently where we had dinner with wine.
Not an expensive place.
The atmosphere and the people are very modern.
Also there is good cocktail menu that my friend tried. Music...
The restaurant is nice and cosy. Service is excellent and the staff speak English.
It is a restaurant that serves wild life meats from Siberia such as bear, yak, stag, fishes, etc. They have a booklet in English to introduce you of wild life animals so that you can familiarise with. Meat is of high quality and very delicious. Deserts...
Hotel was nice, not as good as it seems in their website, though.
It has a great location, close to red square, shops and subway station. Hotel and room were very clean and breakfast was charming with a talented harpist.
My room was spacious and with a nice view from the river. However, the a/c was too noisy, impossible to...
Centrally located at str Ostozhenka. From that str you are 10 min from kremlin. If you need metro it is 5min walking. Sadovaya ring is just behind the corner.
Hotel is old but you can not see it so clearly. It is clean. Beds were hard and old. Breakfast ok.
So, I would say that for that money this is...
"good location - high standard for a 3 star hotel"
reviewed 14 January 2019 by Reisebein
Location is good : 15 minutes walk to metro 25 minutes walk to red square passing by nice and interesting buildings.
Newly renovated and spacious rooms all clean and reasonable equipped (eg. coffee/tea maker). Breakfast in terms of variety is pretty ok - once the hotel is highly booked there are some problems with refilling.
Reception / front desk speaking...
Have stayed here 3 times the first dating back to 1989 and plan to return again. Love the old world charm of the Arbat. Great location and close to all major attractions either by foot or metro to go anywhere in Moscow. Must have one of the best breakfasts, evrything to choose from. The club and tuna sandwiches for lunch...
The hotel staff is wonderful and very helpful. The stay includes breakfast at the hotel restaurant, The Crazy Hunter, which is always delicious - offering a full buffet of yummy foods, as well as a full menu! I look forward to returning again in the near future.
