Delicious and fresh sushi. Spicy tempura prawn is delectable and many other great dishes. My family and I go regularly

Went to Sozai in October 2015 - had a fantastic meal with high quality service and produce (see my earlier review). From then til my 2nd experience last week - something has changed. The sushi and sashmi were inconsistently cut and shaped - not a standard a sushi chef would accept (or a customer). The inside-out rolls were poorly formed... More

We have been going to Sozai since it opened (2-3 times each month) and have always enjoyed the menu and freshness of the food. We had a really bad experience there last night. The menu has changed, the service was terrible, the order in which the food was served was all wrong. The quality has dropped substantially, leading us to... More

I have been going to Sozai for 17 years now. It is still owned by the same Japanese chef and the quality is still excellent. The selection and variety of raw fish has diminished unfortunately - where once the Chef's Platter contained about 6-7 different types of sushi it now only offers salmon and tuna and occasionally a few pieces... Just love Sozai for its' fresh sushi and sashimi. Their Gyoza and nasu-dengaku is deliciously consistent. Efficient polite service and it's always busy so it's wise to book ahead of time. We've since moved from Melbourne and miss our Japanese food fix but we'll be coming back. Hope it stays good while we're away but doesn't become too pricey.

The last Japanese resturnat we ate in was in Mikan italy. Not many people know that Milan which is land bound is actually the seafood capital and distribution centre for all of italy. All fish arrives here then goes down south to Rome nd Naples. So the fish we ate there was incredible. This fish was just good nd fresh... More

Used to go to Sozai all the time for a number of years. Great fresh sashmi and sushi and good fair pricing. However, over the past few months members of my family and I felt ill after dining at Sozai and could not sleep. On enquiring whether the sauces had changed we found that they use a cheap soy sauce... More

We often go to Sozai as the food is always fresh and delicious. A good place to take children as it is low key and accommodating. Their Nasuden Eggplant and Tofu are fabulous. The quality never varies. Fresh Soya Beans are always available and good.
