3 years ago this was such a great pub, good food, lovely staff. Today was awful. The food was really abysmal, the waitress clueless and they had run out of the basics such as salad and horse radish sauce. The chips all 6 of them were dried up more than triple fried. Coffee was basic but the price was not.... More

This place was once THE place to visit if you were passing. Just off the M40 and the lure of Fullers Ales and genuine Thai food was irresistible. Unfortunately times have changed and it is now a very ordinary pub with very little to recommend it. Fullers made a big mistake along the line here. What a shame. I am... More

My wife and daughter had a day out at the nearby Manoir au Quat'Saisons. I was at a loose end for a few hours and justwanted a nice plate of pub good and a glass of wine - nothing special. The outside of the Chequers looked inviting, but it was down hill all the way after that. The wine was... More

When I saw the Chequers which is just off the Oxfordshire Way, I was rather pleased it was open even though it is undergoing renovation, mainly in my view a new thatched roof. Still the pint of Fullers London Pride was well worth the price paid although being from the North West of England, am not used to paying so... More

Such a shame. Been twice before and had a lovely time. This time the place looked the same but the entire visit was different. The restaurant was different, only 3 tables and uninterested staff. Our food was rushed out so fast it wasn't cooked properly. No one checked back so we couldn't complain. Dishes were uneaten when table was cleared... More

Last night my wife and I had an evening meal at the Chequers Inn at Weston on the green. This pub is well suited to travellers on both the A34 and the M40 at Junction 9. From each of these roads follow signs to Middleton Stoney at mini roundabout turn left signed Bicester. The chequers is on your right hand... More

Popped in whilst staying at the wonderful Merton Grounds. Arrived quite late on a Friday evening and didn't want to travel too far for some dinner. Fairly quiet, more of a restaurant than a pub. Decent menu, reasonable prices and nice food. Would go back. Drinks prices a bit steep, £4.20 a pint of lager - I pay less in... More

Good for an early evening meal. Fresh home cooked food, I wish we had room to try pudding. Value for money

We stopped here for dinner having been stuck on the a34 for a very long time with a 3 year old and a baby and having rung my dad to google somewhere close by. The food was lovely and the service friendly. We managed to leave my daughter's shoes there but after a quick phone call they are posting them... More
