Not far from the famous Itsukushima Shrine Torii, you can find this great place services oysters! You can see it in the name, "Kaki" means oyster, "ya" means house, so this is literally the house of oyster for people wants oysters to go to :)...They serve different kind of oyster cuisines, you can have them as Sashimi, deep fried, charcoal grilled, steamed, you name it, but what I would recommend is to order the "Kakiya-set". When you order, you need to pronounce it as "Kakiyasetto" so the staff would understand... It's not on the regular menu, and it's a assorted set so you can enjoy various oyster dishes in one go for around 2000 yen!More

This area is famous for the oyster. You could see oyster farms when you cross the sea by ferry. There are various menu of them. My favorite is the barbecued one.

The main street is full of places to eat and we visited Kakiya after reading the reviews. The restaurant was clean and tidy and all the staff friendly. We had the shared oyster plate for two and the premium saki very enjoyable.

A great place for oyster lovers. We had the Kakiya set since the premium was sold out. Wish they also had raw oysters but overall a good experience. Service could be a little better however.

This restaurant specializes in oysters and serves them in different ways. Best choice is to order their premium set, in which you get oysters done in several ways, e.g. grilled, deep fried, etc. The oysters are large in size. Strangely they don't serve raw oysters...(I would have liked to try some raw).More
