I am grateful to have had the opportunity in my life to eat fresh oysters freshly out of the canal in southern France, but Japanese oysters don't have to hide or be too modest about themselves. Nowhere better did we have fresh oysters in Japan...other than Yagigaki no Hayashi. It is a touristic place on a touristic street, but it is good. So good that all the kitsch surrounding you will be forgotten and only the fresh taste of salty and marvelous oysters will remain in your memory. Treat yourself buddy, you deserve this!More
this place is much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside, so don't be put off by a line/queue - i love oysters and they didn't disappoint (i think i went thru a dozen - yum) - the staff are friendly and...helpful and when they brought the bill, they placed a small computer tablet on our table with a fireworks show as a little extra entertainment - just go and enjoy!More
We came to Miyajima from Fukuoka on a Saturday on December 28. We had tagged Yakigaki No Hayashi as a restaurant we wanted to try because they are so well known. After our sight seeing, we saw the restaurant and at around 11:10 am, there...were already 10 people in line. We quickly got in line and in around 15 minutes we were seated. They have English menus.
We ordered the 4 pieces of grilled oysters for 1400 yen - but they ended up giving us 5 pieces! Then we ordered the set with 5 pieces of fried oysters and anago for 2700 yen.
The oysters were awesome. So fresh and plump and juicy. They were so good. The anago was also really good.
We paid in Cash. They only accept cash.
By the time we left, the line was very long. Get here before the lunch or dinner hours to avoid the long wait. You won't regret eating here. One of the best meals we had in Japan.More

A very busy restaurant in the small shopping street of Miyajima. You can’t miss it big sign and a crowded place with a significant number of Japanese. Anyhow it’s clear that the review in the guidebooks bring the crowds. But it is well deserved if,...again, you love oysters because they present them in many forms raw cook grilled etc. All excellent I must say. Friendly service used to non Japanese English menu available and very reasonable prices. I agree this the place that you should visit in Miyajima besides the temples and pagodas of course !More
