Lovely fresh filling food and excellent service! Tuna steak was succulent and side dishes were varied and tasty. Traditional kebab was huge and delicious! Awesome sea view too! Will definitely be back!

We just had a lunch at Caravela and it was beyond good! The limpets and octopus were superb and the cod with banana was a true highlight. The service was great and the staff is very friendly, without this "let me explain this meal to you" which you get on every corner in Funchal. No hidden "cover" costs, yo the... More

Excellent menu complemented by friendly and courteous staff in a sea front location. Our attentive and knowledgeable waiter brought the catch of the day to the table on a platter, and we were offered a selection of Grouper, Parrot Fish and Amber Jack amongst others. We chose the Amber Jack with prawns as a starter; the prawns were huge, the... More

What more to say? The restaurant was recommended by the hotel, and I am delighted that they did so. The food was perfect; nothing special, but well cooked Portuguese staples, and a superb "Estepanda" - skewered meat. The service was friendly, English was spoken well, the food and wine delicious and all in all it was a very good meal.... More

Following TripAdvisor reviews we went to the restaurant, it was early evening and the place was empty , we took a hike and visited two other restaurants in the vicinity but returned an hour later to find the place full with guests and much more inviting, We enjoyed the food which was fresh and tasty.

Proper food, pure tastes, fresh ingredients. Ask for fresh fish of the day! Visited the place several times and the food and service were great indeed. Probably one of the best places on this side of the island if not in Madeira.

It is popular with tourists and locals. Food is simple and portions are generous. Staff are friendly too. All in all recommended eating place for a good price in a location where there is not that much choice to eat.

We enjoyed a perfect dinner here. We had the lapas (limpets) in delicious garlic butter as a starter and were offered a grilled tuna like fish as a main. We closed with homemade chocolate pie. Food is so beautifully honest and straight forward that it's hard to beat for flavor and freshness. Quantities are vast, service is great in honesty... More

We had lunch along with lots of locals! Great limpets as starters and then home style steak with gravy and egg.
