On a 10-day skiing holiday with friends, the dinned at this place was by far the most expensive and by far the worst - by a very long shot. My view is that this is a place built entirely on hype with no substance to...back it up. The food is very average at best and the service is shocking. Avoid at all costs.
The first red flags appeared when we looked at the menu. Most of the dishes had no prices. There was a picture of the head chef, but really, who cares about insignificant details such as prices? Right? There was a Specials board that had no prices either. Not very helpful. The waitresses were fumbling - one took a couple of minutes to turn her service app on before she could answer any questions. When our chosen sake turned out to be unavailable and she offered us a substitute, she couldn't answer any questions about the new sake. Triple minus for knowledgeable staff.
We ordered quite a lot of food. The service staff made no attempt to space it out - practically all of it was delivered at once, which meant that half of the dished were going to get cold by the time we got through the first ones. Triple minus for attentive service.
The food was extremely average. The "star" dish (in the ironic sense) was the steak, which was Y16,000 for a 300g sirloin. It so happened that the previous night we had an equivalent dish at another restaurant - that was unmeasurably better and at 1/4 of the price. The other dishes were equally overpriced and equally below-average. The only exception was the steamed daikon appetiser, which was the cheapest and the smallest choice.
The dinner was the equivalent of A$250 per person, but the quality of the food justified perhaps A$50pp. This is perhaps the most over-priced, over-hyped tourist trap on the mountain. Avoid avoid avoid.More
