We went in as a group of 7 including 2 young kids and 3 seniors. No doubt the booking experience has some wondering why it needs to reset again and adds to a bit of inconvenience. This place is not cheap, average about 100 sgd...easily per pax. The crab dishes in hokkaido is different from the style in Singapore, as Japan tends to favour to accentuate the natural flavours of the crabs through hotpot, boiled etc rather than stir fry with heavy sauces in Singapore. So if you are one who needs strong flavours, you probably might be disappointed. The surprise win for us was the uni we ordered which tasted extremely fresh and succulent.More

If you reserve a table they charge you for the meal and then they charge you again after you eat. Then they say the money will be refunded in 40 days, long after your holiday has finished. Don't go there, I was disappointed. There are...many better options.More

It was one of the coldest days in Niseko and also the last day of our week long trip here in Niseko. We wanted to end the trip with a beautiful and memorable closure with a dinner at Kanon, but it proved to be a...bad decision made to have chosen this restaurant. First, when I made the reservation online, no details were given on the ‘Special’ menu and the ‘Basic’ menu. We chose the special menu for 10,000 yen per person (which is considered as very high end and expensive in Hokkaido) but only to find out on the day of the visit and the only difference is a sashimi platter which only contains a few pieces of sashimi. Second, it was a very cold day and when we went in, we just want to start the evening with three cups of warm water. The waitress spoke to us in Mandarin (which is not my language!) and said there is a charge of 100 yen per cup. I am sitting in on an expensive dinner but asked to pay 100 yen for just a cup of water!? I have been to many fancy restaurants and this is not how customers should be treated! I finished the cup in a matter of seconds, so I ordered another glass of coke. Guess what? It came in a kiddy size where I finished it in four sips and that cost me 400 yen! It’s not the amount, but the service that tells you that this restaurant is nothing close to being high end or worth the price stated on the menu. The crab dishes were ok, but not spectacular. I have had many better ones elsewhere. The one very disappointing dish is the snow crabs. They were very difficult to handle because of their hard needles, but no gloves or handling equipment were given. I got poked into my fingers a few times while trying to eat it and there was no one who came by to ask how were the dishes etc. Generally not a restaurant that I would waste a precious Niseko night to spend. Worst off, when we left the restaurant and walked towards our car, there was a man on the restaurant rooftop who was ploughing slow on top of our car. Without noticing him, my husband started clearing the snow off our car’s windshield, and that man just shuffled a bunch of snow onto my husband and our car. It was freezing!! There was no apology or simply just asking whether we are alright. A complete ripe-off and obviously my worst and most excessively spent evening in Niseko. Would NOt recommend!More

The bad experience started with the reservations. They made a credit card deduction upon my booking and shortly after wrote back to say they could not take our reservation according to our requirements. Then next after adjusting the reservations to meet their set menu, they...made the deposit deduction twice. On the day of the booking, it was finally resolved amicably. However, the meal was the pathetic and it was obvious that they were trying to stinge on anything they could ie. The “rice courses” was actually a spoonful of rice spread out with a few “balls” of ikura which they probably counted, the “crab gratin” was worst than what you would get in a frozen TV dinner and there was no crab/crab flavour to be found other than a shell that was used. Service staff were all foreign and didn’t have a clue about the menu and/or otherwise not trained in any form of service. All the above and yet they charge 7500Yen per person for a basic course menu. Unless you have a super craving for crab or should I say crap, otherwise do avoid this place. I am compelled to write this review so that less people will get ripped off.More

The set dinner includes cold hairy crab with vinegar and crab liver, yummy snow crab hot pot and grilled king crab legs. The cost per person is about $75 USD, fairly reasonable. The traditional ambiance further accentuates the flavor of the dishes served.

We had an early appointment and we were quickly seated (we were a large group). As we were the only table at the time, it was very comfortable (nobody competing with our noises). It has several rooms, so noises should not be that much of...a problem. Crab meal itself is about the same as compared to other crab meal we had, so it is not spectacular, but it is fine. As we had booked the set crab dinner, we don't know if there are other food that it also offered.More

Was really looking fwd to dining at Crab Kanon, after seeing the reviews and hearing about the booked out status. Don't. Just don't. For starters, u are greeted by a doggie smell at the entrance. Look down, and u see a small dog cage. No...wonder. We walked in to an almost empty restaurant at 615 pm, and was greeted by a smiling waiter. No problems at all with the service, but the food was decent. When it came to the bill, I was shocked that the final cost came up to US$80 per pax, for not a lot of crab. Portion size was below average, only a slim model would find it fulfilling. What irked me was how they charged ¥800 for a cup of green tea. Make that 2 cups, as only one person had the green tea, and asked for a refill. Ridiculous that they will charge ¥400 per serve. The management is Definitely more profit oriented than providing fair service. There are many better restaurants around Hirafu...recommend giving this a miss.More

We had a very nice dinner here last week. The crab was very fresh and the set menu was well planned and each course was very good. We also ordered wagyu beef and uni and they were both delicious and went well with the rest...of our order. Staff were very friendly and efficient and were very patient as they explained how to taste each course.More

We had the set dinner in the cozy, friendly restaurant. It was not as busy and crowded as other restaurants in Niseko. The staff were very friendly and helpful and did not urge us to finish our meals within a specific time, as many other...restsurants did during dinner time. We also ordered Sea Urchi, Waugu beef and udon. All food tasted good and fresh Price was very reasonable. This was a place I would recommend for people who love crab dishes.More
