L’Ocanda is a great little restaurant that puts out very tasty Italian meals as well as having a nice bakery. The set lunch menu is great value for the 3 course set. It’s a little bit elegant so nice fir a SPECIAL occasion. The service...is really nice as well. You would t be disappointed.More

Intimate place with very limited seating. When booking they will arrange a set menu to your likes ( I would recommend the gnocchi) which can be paired with wine. Great wine list and pleasant way to spend an evening not rushed with attentive hosts. Well...worth a short taxi trip however they should invest in a pick up drop off service .More

We had a very nice lunch at L'Ocanda. They have a ser menu choice at approx 1600 with a Salad, bread, pasta and coffee or other beverage. All the food was fresh and very well prepared. Flavours spot on. Well done. A very safe and...well priced restaurant with polite unobtrusive service. Note they sell lovely cakes as well. The signage makes it look more like a cafe but it's a well run little restaurant and cafe. A nice surprise. Located just before the traffic lights heading to kitchen from Hurafu/ Izumkio.More

We are a group of nine and occupied the whole restaurant. Service is excellent and food is very good. It’s like Italian with a Japanese touch. The wine list is short but with good choices. The collection of grappas is extravagant. I tasted the most...expensive and fine grappa here. I travelled round Italy yet haven’t seen such grappa before. Excellent!More

L'ocanda is the best rappresentation of Italian cuisine mixed with a Japanese Taste. The waiting staff is extremely coordinated and carefull about customers. The Menu choices are few, but enough to fullfill all kind of needings, from the classic Bolognese to some variation of squid sauce...and cabage. Really lovely and chill place, prices are really honest and affordable. Grazie ancora Ci vediamo presto !More

A delightful family run business in a very cosy atmosphere. The pasta was very al dente and very much worth the visit. We tried the chef's set menu and it was sumptuous. Well worth a visit if you can get a booking and very good...value for money compared to other establishments. The staff were kid friendly too which was a bonus for us.More

Four of us arrived, were shown the menu board, and ordered. After going away, the server informed us that there was only one each left of the main course items we had selected. So, two of us had to make due with two starters. Needless...to say, we weren't happy and let them know it. From there on, though, everything was perfect. The pastas were all great, and the two main dishes that did arrive were outstanding. They also have a very interesting selection of very fine desserts. Oh, and they did give us an extra starter for our trouble and aggravation. This is a top level, five-star place if not for the menu screw-up. That screw-up is pretty big, though, and is the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars. (One possible excuse is that we were there at the end of the busy season, and understandable that they would be concerned about their inventories. Possibly it is not a problem at other times.)More

I've been here a few times before to buy desserts, which by the way are delicious, it was my first time to come here for dinner the other week and it sure did not disappoint. The risotto was perfect, I could not fault the dishes...that we ordered, I would definitely come back. :)More

My friend recommend a chu cream from this place. Everyone knows all milk product from Hokkaido is very good, the cream itself is very good but what impressed me was the outside. Will try the food on my next visit.

This is a nice little restaurant serving up very nice Italian meals. They seem to have all the ingredients and flavours correct. We enjoyed one of the pastas during a lunch. Well appointed small resataurant, nice service. The portions were not huge but sufficient. Prices...Mid Range for the area. it is a popular business lunch type venue. Its located very near to the traffic lights as you leave Hirafu - Izumikio for Kutchan (On the Left leaving Hirafu) opposite the very popular Soba place Ichimura.More

We tried to eat at Locanda on 4th January 2017 for lunch. This was our third try this week as they close for the busiest time around new year day and thereafter. Only 3 of us. We arrived at 1 40 pm, the sign outside...said Open and it noted lunch from 11 30 to 2 pm last order taken. Inside there were just few tables with people eating. The waitress responded they were closed as they ran out of pasta. I noted we could eat something else, she said thank you come back some other time. I asked what type of restaurant they were running, we went three three times they were never open and today will not serve. It is appalling customer service. Con man service commitment. DaveMore

2 japanese brothers. 1 cooks the main meals, Italian. The other makes desserts, classic french pastry style. Qe were a party of 14. 3 families with kids aged 9 to 17. Being such a large group meant our meal was chef's choice. Omakase. The main...focus of the meal was to utilize local ingredients, cook them italian style but with the wonderfully light, sensative touch of a typically vwry good japanese chef. Pasta was a home made tagliatelle with a salted italian veg and fresh local oysters and a hint of fresh tomatoes. Done without finesse, it could easily be horrible. This was lightly savoury, sweet and briny from the oysters and held up by the unmistakable texture of fresh pasta. Magic! And the whole meal was like that. Course after course of teasing, tantalising, delicious balance. We had venison to start, followed by a wonderfully light n lip smacking breaded cod, the pasta as mentioned, a chicken and shitake risotto and as a finale, a beautiful local pork loin. Dessert was a burst in your mouth, textured pear sorbet and a tiramisu. Although we were full, we still had another 6 more of the beautiful french tarts and pastries from the dessert display counter. The restaurant is a small one and for our party of 14, we took up the whole place. Service was wonderful, led by the brothers' mother. At the end of the meal, we took a picture with chef and his father who was with him in the the kitchen all night. A true family affair. Magic! Highly recommended!!More

An amazing Italian restaurant run by a local family. A friend recommended and it was fantastic. A set menu with reasonable prices. Easily some of the best Italian food I've ever had.
