My wife and I visited this wonderful restaurant yesterday afternoon. We thought we'd have a light lunch, sitting by the beautiful waterfront. We were invited into their kitchen, where we were shown the many dishes prepared by the grandma and several other women. Yum! We chose much too much food, which was all delicious and very tasty. The selections are... More

We went there several times, since they moved from their old place with garden to the main square of Pylos. Since the move the quality went down every time we had choses this place.

We went in after one of the two women running the place in the main square approached us while checking the menu. Olives of the starters were expensive and not that good, rest of the food was not great either considering the prices. To avoid, there are better places in the area.

We ate here three times, twice at tables in the square, and once inside when it was raining. Each time we had good service, nice food and very reasonably priced. The square is a lovely place to enjoy a pre meal during and soak up the atmosphere. Pylos is a great place to spend some time with a good mix... More

We had a lunch for six here - stopping off on aa days drive. We were invited into the kitchen and choose 6 hot dishes - and a salad - with the exception of the sardines (which were amazing) all were vegetarian. We went for greek classics - Aubergine, giant beans, courgettes - all were amazing. Artichokes and potatoes were... More

I had a great meal my wife did not enjoy hers. That's not because the food was bad but maybe due to bad (overly adventurous choices). When we arrived we were led to the kitchen to look at the food choices. What a great way of explaining the menu. The problem was that for New Zealanders the veggies were all... More

We have eaten here three times during this holiday. Food is lovely-very traditional. You go into the kitchen and the chef shows you what has been cooked. You then choose and it is brought out a few minutes later. Waiters are friendly and helpful. Only downside is there's no side options such as rice or veg - the dishes come... More

Well situated on edge of main square - ideal for a view of the sunset. Wide ranging menu and we were shown into the kitchen to see what they had. Choice of meat, fish and several vegetarian dishes and none of it from the freezer! A shared starter, two mains, two beers, ½ litre of wine came to just over... More

We looked at the menu but didn't need to. We where shown into the kitchen at the array of beautifully cooked food and asked to choose what you would like. The food was fantastic, very tasty like Greek home cooking. We had greens, fish and beef. Great view of the sea and sunset too.

Very mixed ratings from reviewers here, so what are the pros and cons? We have several friends that eat nowhere else when they're in Pylos. On the plus side the business is family run and long established. Mum does authentic, traditional cooking and the waiting staff are great. Expect fresh ingredients, dishes with nice little differences from normal (all properly... More
