Came on the Wednesday night Italian and had a fabulous linguini while my partner and daughter had an amazing pizza each , was a lovely meal ,good prices and lovely staff

We arrived to find the place very busy. Staff tried hard but the teacakes were cold by the time coffee turned up. Teacakes were actually toast. Hmm don't rely on your reputation. Fudge cake was good.

The Bakehouse welcomes you into a beautiful setting where old world and original features meet with a modern industrial twist. Enjoy the home from home comfort and relax into a world of great smelling coffee and homemade delights. Run by Penelope Smith and her daughter Lyla, together with a talented chef and a friendly team. You'll have the pleasure of perusing our creative specials board with breakfasts, lunches and gorgeous platters which compliments our menu comprising of your old favourites with a spin. We have a wide selection of locally produced drinks including our lovely coffee from Owens in Modbury which sits together with our wide variety of loose leaf teas from the fast growing Teapigs company. Our dishes which are freshly prepared by our kitchen, comprise of locally sourced products wherever possible, to help support our local community and produce very tasty food….and you have to try Penny's mouthwatering cakes!! So whether its just for a latte and a slice of carrot cake or you'd like to stay and enjoy a daily special with a glass of wine, come and soak up the history surrounding you and listen to the perfect accompanying music…….and the noisy kitchen :) The Bakehouse is Bigger!
Open now due to popular demand and space restrictions we have opened our new room at The Bakehouse for extra dining space, functions and most importantly, the launch of our new Bakehouse Pizza evening every Wednesday night, started on the 29th July!
Our pizzas will are homemade and served with a wide range of delicious Bakehouse toppings - from the traditional to the more adventurous! Take aways available as collection only. Find the menu on the home page.
The new room is a lovely light, airy venue with a wood burner for those chilly days and a wonderful high ceiling. Seating around 25 on our traditional tables and chairs. Giving anyone the chance to drop by during the day or night with space to dine and take in the surroundings. Plenty of interesting, available space for a private function or party and look out for live music and pop up events!

The Bakehouse Wine Bar open every Thursday, Friday & Saturday night. Come and feast on our tapas menu which offers a selection of delicious Spanish dishes accompanied by beautiful platters inspired by Continental classics, using fresh local ingredients to sit perfectly next to your glass of specially selected wine! Alongside we run a great specials menu which changes every two to three weeks. We comprise seasonal ingredients and locally sourced produce with style and honesty.Our bar offers cocktails, a wide array of classic and unique spirits with those special top shelf bottles to savour on! Our wine list covers the whites of Italy, France & Australasia to the reds of Spain, Latin America and South Africa and featuring Christopher Piper Wines of France.
