The waiters were incredibly unfriendly as the entire time they made fun of me and were insulting well known people who can make the world a better place. The menue was unoriginal at best lacking - in my opinion - an assortment of vegetarian dishes...and the dishes were relatively small and so despite their pleasant taste they left me with a feeling of emptiness withing my stomach as I was not nearly full after eating them and so I left very much unsatisfied. In addition to this the seats were uncomfortable and the restaurant's decoration was horrible. In my opinion, this restaurant is horrible and I would not go there again.More

We stopped in here for lunch about 1:00 PM. The restaurant was about 1/2 full. We were greeted and shown to our table. I ordered a Dampfbrau beer and still water for my wife. My wife ordered kasespatzle and I had rostbraten--small portion. The menu...had small portions and large portions for most of the items which is nice not to have a giant lunch. We were pleased with the meal and I enjoyed the beer.More

We visited twice the restaurant and enjoyed the local Bavarian food range, together with a great local beer. Visiting the place is well worth, if you are in Zwiesel or near by. You should give it call first, just in case it is fully booked...(happened to us at one visit). The restaurant is quite small.More

Food was fine (maybe a little bit too salty). Tried the Gulash. With a fine glass of Riesling it all fitted together. Dessert also fine (fresh strawberries). Good German food for a very acceptable price.

Yes,it's a stylish. All is the average. You can find it in every german pub. Good soup with big leberknoedel, good mixed salad and tasty beer. But main course was oversalted, the staff a little cheeky and grim surroudings. For lovers old movies

Traditional home cooked food with delicious fresh beer. This restaurant is small and kind of hidden behind a tree. Our hotel recommended we eat here and we were glad we did. I had a New York Strip Steak (Rump Steak) with fried potatoes (brat kartoffel)...and a yummy salad. My husband had the Weiner Schnitzel (Schwein) with french fries (Pommes) and a salad.More

Best range of vegetables I have ever had in one meal in Germany! Delicious food, friendly service and nice surroundings. We were not early enough to get a table outside, but the food was so good that did not matter at all. Only surprise was...small choice of wines. Despite that, would go back.More

Nobody spoke while eating, we all wanted to savor the flavor. I ate the homemade noodles with cheese, which was the best I have had in my 15 years in Germany. The men enjoyed fresh venison in a luscious sauce after the day on skiing....The owner kept us laughing and gave us a lesson on beer brewing. Worth a visit!More

After a day of trying to figure out the bus system in Zwiesel, including an unexpected hike to the Nachmann Crystal outlet in the boondocks, we returned to town looking for a good meal and a good beer. On the downtown square across from the...fountain, we found the Dampfbrau. It is not the brewery which is in another part of town, but it sells its beer on tap. We walked just before they were ready to take their afternoon break before dinner, but our waiter was gracious and friendly, and we were welcomed. The beer was a wonderful dark concoction (it means steam beer) and our meal selections were amazing. I had a beef roast smothered in a cream mushroom sauce (with the local steinpilz mushrooms). My husband had a brisket in a cream sauce. We were surprised to find the meat was similar to corned beef, and so tender it didn't need a knife. It was covered with a delicious light horseradish cream sauce and a sprinkling of horseradish on top. As we were waiting for our meal, we met the resident Wolpertinger (the iPod translator actually translated this as Jackalope, I kid you not), apparently the mascot of the local schnapps distillery. We had to put that visit off for another time.More
