Food here is very good in quality, preparation and taste and the venue is very clean if simple. The available dishes were not on display when I visited although there is a long counter lined with chafing dishes. Many orders are placed via phone for pickup and take away. On Thursday they serve fish and local dishes, a special culinary... More
The wild and rugged East coast of Barbados is so special, we drove from the west for lunch at the Bay Tavern and were not disappointed. The Tavern is authentic and looks basic but the food was far from that. Fresh, delicious and we took it across to their picnic benches that sit practically on the beach, the waves were... More
I love the local Caribbean food from Vans on the side of the road and most of the restaurants I've been to but unfortunately this one missed the mark. Below average selection. A lot of the menu was not available. The sword fish was over cooked. The ribs were good, but the sides were not. Expensive too for what was... More
We have been to Martins Bay many times for the Thursday Lime and must admit that this year with all the new building we felt the place has lost much of its atmosphere. Perhaps we picked a bad day, it just did not seem anything like as busy as it used to be.

Not half as surprised as me when I opened the polystyrene package to see one fish eye staring at me. Once I got over that shock... More
We had a very nice lunch stop here and it was great value by Barbados standards. The food is bajan and the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars, is we had to eat the food of polystyrene trays where the locals where served on proper plates
Went there for a family day out. Parked in Bridgetown and took the bus to Martins Bay. Excellent for sight seeing and Bay Tavern did not disappoint. Great food, lovely scenery. Locals and tourists that are in the know experience a little gem. Will be going back loved it.
The Bay Tavern rocks! My girlfriend and I stayed in Newcastle (highly recommend) and walked to the Bay Tavern for dinner our first night there. We showed up around 8 and a local smoking a cigarette outside told us the kitchen was closed. But Junior, the owner, offered to fix us up dinner anyway. He set us up with rum... More
Martin's Bay is a small fishing village on the wilder East coast of Barbados. Fish and lobsters are landed from small boats, often brought ashore in sacks by swimming fisherman. Bay Tavern is a modern purpose built and very functional restaurant. Outside an ample car park across the road from the beach. Downstairs the bar and toilets. Upstairs the kitchen... More
