On the 5th day of our walk from Wallsend to Bowness, this was a very welcome lunch break for us. The service was good, the only slight surprise being soup of the day with... no bread!

Stopped in for lunch while walking Hadrian's Wall on a rainy day. Pleasant welcome and they didn't object to us and several other groups of walkers trying to dry out jackets and boots! Lovely soup and a nice atmosphere.

We thought we would try the Stag Inn as we heard it had reopened. The menu itself very poor, 5 starters and 7 main courses. I ordered the steak and ale pie which was lovely, didn't come with the peas as stated on the menu,...More

After some dodgy brewery managers for the last few years and then flooded and closed for 18 months, great to meet Margaret and Ron after all their hard work to enjoy a great pint of Stag Gold and a superb meal. Nice informal and clean...More

Was here for opening night, and since opening night have been coming in for a few drinks. Booked a meal for tonight, and they didn't disappoint. The food was excellent as was the service. Would definitely recommend.

The transformation of this pub is amazing and the menu looks great. There is nothing worse than being in a pub and waiting for the toilet to come free because someone has just walked in expecting to use the toilet without actually being a customer,...More

Anybody that knew the stag prior to the floods which closed it will be pleasantly surprised by the sympathetic restoration of this wonderful period pub. The new owners could not do more to cater for our every need. Whilst talking to the new owners they...More

The Stag re-opened on Friday 9th of June 2017 after being closed for the last 18 months following the floods of December 2015 - the new owners, Margaret and Ron, hosted a fantastic night with about 90 to 100 customers enjoying their great hospitality and...More

They do, you have to ask but they are very helpful. I had roast lamb and mint sauce and they gave me gluten free gravy which was delicious.

Description
The Stag Inn was recently bought by Ron and Margaret back in Dec 2016. It has gone through a complete renovation after the floods back in Dec 2015. The pub is now open and offering a good traditional bar meal menu along with some specials. All ages welcome.
