Good portions, friendly service, lovely tapas, fab mojitos, great value and in a beautiful setting by the Santa Maria church. Just be careful not to sit at the wrong tables as the bar opposite shares the space. This lovely bar has white tables and chairs.

The tapas was average. I suggest not ordering the patatas bravas unless you don't mind paying 5.50 Euros for a plate of thick potato crisps with a spoonful of cheap pasta sauce drizzled over the top.

Great place with lovely food and drink. The service is great as are the prices. Situated in an elevated position up a number of steps you have a choice of sitting inside or outside on the Plaza de Santa Maria next to a lovely church and art gallery. The real Spain !!!

Mon Cafe is set in a small square next to a beautiful church. The owner Lewis is hilarious! All of the staff are friendly and efficient. The drinks and food are excellent. It is a perfect location to watch the 'Palm Tree' firework at midnight during Las Hogueras Festival. I would definitely recommend visiting at least once during a trip... More

Just returned from a week in Alicante. This restaurant is beside the Basilica of Santa Maria so is in a beautiful setting. We ate here twice and tried most of tapas dishes, there were all fantastic. Stand out dishes were the garlic prawns, meatballs and chicken lollipops 4-5 euros each so great value. The staff were friendly and hugely entertaining... More

Three week visit to Alicante had us return many times to the Santa Maria church. So lovely and quiet and the sunniest plaza in the city. Stopped at Mon Cafe for a small snack and were pleasantly surprised. Limited but EXCELLENT. Sangria is excellent and value added. Bread used for my sandwich was the best Bread I had in three... The best Sangria in Alicante, I know because I tried Sangria in every single restaurant. We came back there every single evening. The stuff was lovely and very friendly. Love this place

Plaza de Santa María isn't a bad place to have your your coffee and croissant's for breakfast for starters! Fortunately we were staying nearby and could visit frequently for a beer or a snack on the walk back from the beach, the shops or the galleries, the castle etc. The older waiter/ proprietor? was friendly and funny. They had many... More
