The food was very greasy and huge portions but we had to pay for it! Probably the most expensive meal we have ever bought in Spain! 49Euro for three fish dishes! Rip off the Brits!!??

We ate at El Bira today and I wish I would have taken the time to review it first. When you are on holiday you stumble across these quaint fish restaurants and think yes that looks clean and fresh. So here we go service was ok, they tried the up sell trick on us too. We had two langoustine two... More

This sea front restaurant has a good position and is large, open and airy with a nicely designed terrace and dining space. That is all that I can say good about El Birra. 3 friends and I took lunch there out of season. It's quicker to list the complaints by bullet points, or this review would turn into a short... More

Quite sad to see the unfavourable reports of other travellers for this restaurant. That is such a pity. We have been now on two occasions for dinner and had a very nice meal on both occasions. It is not overly priced, and the fish we had both times was delicious. Perhaps we were just lucky...

Had a fab lunch here the other day so came back this evening for the mixed fried fish meal for 2 (with salad and a drink 32 euros). Pace of meal was great, salad coming first then hot, nicely cooked fried fish later. After this course we were offered dessert which we declined. We finished our drinks and had a... More

My wife and I visited Garrucha today and called into El Birra for lunch. We spotted a Crab in the tank and agreed a price together with other items. We ate the other items Crayfish etc and then the Crab arrived. It looked odd to me as it was covered with Marie Rose sauce. We started into it and found the... More

We went to Garrucha for the evening having been told it was great for fresh fish. Looked around a few restaurants and found El Birra. There was a bit of hard sell, but the fish on display had clear eyes so we assumed it would be fresh. The head waiter quickly took a dislike to us as not all of... More

We visited here after being recommended its the best around. So wish I had checked reviews first, it was a horrible experience which cost us over 100 euros! I don't eat fish and this place is all about fish, my other half loves fish and this was his treat. All he wanted was the local famous Garrucha prawns. I checked... More

We went twice in our week. On both occasions we had a very warm welcome from JuanJo and his excellent family run staff. JuanJo explained about the local fish, and we were able to select what we wanted and were told how much it would cost and how it would be cooked and and presented. We weren't disappointed on either... More

We went here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and managed to get in before the rush. We both had fish based tapas/racions and thoroughly enjoyed them, Service was very attentive considering the way it filled up with some quite large groups. Great 'Spanish' family atmosphere. a very kind act was observed when an African women selling trinkets had trouble... More
