Very good noodles in Kanda Yabu Soba. The shop is not easy to find but worth the visit. Very tasty soba and udon. Service is fast and diligent, even if better to avoid pick time. Portions are a bit small but taste is really awesome. Highly recommended for soba & udon lovers.

This is probably the most Japanese restaurant I've been to. I felt out of place. I felt like I was interrupting a business meeting. People doing business with their food, and let me tell you, the business meeting was loud! If you think you've heard loud slurping, visit this soba joint. Anyway, I really enjoyed slurping the s hit out... More

This place is specialized in Japanese noodles. Udon, served hot and Soba served cold. Over the noodles an assortment of options can be ordered. Tempura of vegetables and shrimp is a nice option for both. To drink, stay with green tea, to not affect the soba taste.

It's definitely one of the best soba I have tasted sofar. I personally prefer cold than warm and the portion here isn't a lot. Even my daughter can finish one and a half. I reckon a grown adult might at least have to order 3 portion of the cold soba. The rest of the appetizer is good for small bite... More

Be warned it's good for small bites. If you are looking for something to fill your stomach for dinner this is a bad idea . It costs us twice as much because they give twice as less the regular portion you'd expect . To sum ; food is great , price is twice as expensive , quantity twice as less... More

We came here for lunch when visiting the area. The food was simply delicious. We loved our visit here. The service was fantastic and the building itself is amazing. Would definitely return on a future trip to Japan.

Whenever visiting Tokyo, we always like to arrange at least one meal in Kanda Yabu Soba. It was rebuilt after a fire accident a few years ago. The building itself was recognized as Tokyo cultural asset. The food served is in fact quite simple, but one can always gets the natural taste of the food and brings you the wonderful... More

Most soba places are casual little spots. This isn't like that. It's a lovely old restaurant with wait staff that looks like they have been there for years. The atmosphere is amazing. You are serenaded to your seat with a sound that I can only describe as zen mediation chanting. Your order is taken (there's an English menu) and a... More

A pleasant 10-min walk from Akihabara, convenient to cover the two places in the same day. Strongly suggest using Google maps or similar because it's pretty easy to get lost in the alleys of this area. Food is good, simple heartwarming fare. Expensive by lunch standards, expect to pay more than 1,800yen pp when you can easily find 1k sets... More

Staying in Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.
