This is my first trip advisor review, I felt compelled to warn curry fans. I'm not normally fussy, but I love curry. You might think me crazy for wanting an Indian curry in Tokyo, with the huge amount of high Japanese food everywhere! But I had a hankering and my partner is a newly discovered Indian fan. The food was... More

A small shop, close to Shinjuku Station in a narrow backstreet. It was hard to spot the place with its little sign. I had mix curry with beef, shrimp and tomatoes as I remember. The curry was thicker and bitter than what I ate in popular curry chain stores in Japan. Therefore, it was strange at the first taste but... More

The standard of food was not too bad here, but like many Indian restaurants in Tokyo it was definitely overpriced in the evening, especially considering the quite small portions. They also charged us for the drinks, even though we had ordered the Set menus and had a coupon. The location might be convenient if you're staying at the hotel, but... More

Had a simple set meal here for 2 for around 3,000 YEN. Nothing fantastic but good value for money and made a nice change from rice and noodle fair.

See write up http://kjvambu.wordpress.com/2014/05/25/trip-to-japan/ If you are staying in Shinjuku area and after a long day of walking want go somewhere and have a quiet Indian meal (Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian) then I recommend Gandhi restaurant. It is located at the basement of Hotel Shinjuku Washington (160-8336 Tokyo Prefecture, Shinjuku-ku, Nishishinjuku 3-2-9 ). This place is 10 minutes walking from the... More

Staffed by friendly mix of Indian and Bangladeshi people, this is a welcoming restaurant. Food is the usual Japanese - style indian favourties. Nothing special, but great for a vegetarian. Their hospitable nature is quite a delight.

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
