Real Greek restaurant

The random selection for dinner turned out to be great although there are no pretentious commercials but it is in a great location overlooking Meteora. Good parking in an area where it is not possible. The pleasant and attentive staff had an understanding for our wishes even though we did not know Greek customs and drinks well. The grilled lamb was top notch and the real quiet Greek folk music in the background complemented the enjoyment. Warmly recommend

The Taste of Meteora - Souvlaki with a Panoramic View!

The refreshing sweet syrupy orange cake, complimentary from management, was absolutely scrumptious… oh but I’ve gotten way ahead of myself. My husband and I have discovered this beautiful tavern, an oasis nestled in magnificent Meteora (a UNESCO world designated site). BTW Meteora means “suspended in air”. Back to the taverna, a family owned business, offering top quality regional cuisine. Aromas of the roasting pork and chicken souvlaki marinated with locally picked herbs like oregano infuse the taverna air. The Greek salad (oh that amazing feta cheese) and not to mention the fried cheese are sublime. Everything is delightful, from the food, the sights (panoramic view of Meteora rocks), the setting, the cool breeze under the shade and the hikers passing by. Sit back and enjoy a half carafe of local wine for €5 or a refreshing Greek beer for €3.50! How can you beat that?! We are grateful for the welcoming friendly atmosphere of Boufidis Taverna!

This was The most Amazing Souvlaki Ever!!! And the sausage simply delicious! Eleni, our waitress, was a real delight, helped us a lot with deciding what to eat and sharing some stories made us feel like we were among friends. The meat is locally produced, super fresh and tasty, the ambiance is very authentic, with greek music in the background and because we were on a monday, not that crowded. Plus, the raki (drink from Crete) and the desert on the house made everything even more special. We totally recommend this wonderful tavern! With a very friendly & super helpful owner, you should definitely make a stop here.

I still dream about their pork souvlaki

We had finished a long morning of hiking through the monestaries when we came to Boufidis Greek Taverna, literally the first place we ran into when we descended down the path back to our hotel. We didn't expect much, considering it's the first place on the road up to the monasteries we assumed it got by on location alone. We couldn't have been more wrong. The meatballs were delicious, the fries were perfectly cooked and the pork souvlaki? We had A LOT of souvlaki during our three weeks in Greece, and I mean A LOT - and this was by far and away the best we had on our entire trip. The kind of juicy, perfectly seasoned souvlaki that melts in your mouth and leaves you scarfing down the entire plate. This place is so insanely good, I still dream about that souvlaki weeks later. Our only regret was not going there again for dinner that same day.

Wonderful meal in a wonderful place

Delicious food on a lovely outdoor patio, the smell of grilling meat, what could be better after a day spent exploring amazing Meteora. Everything was fresh and flavor full, traditional Greek food. Service was excellent and dispite being very busy the owner took the time to answer questions about the scarf tradition of kastraki.

Excellent Food and Location

I can’t remember the names of every place I ate, but I remember this one. The souvlaki was excellent. Service was fast and friendly. I really feel like they wanted to run an excellent restaurant. When you go to Meteora, be picky about where you eat. Lots of places just want tourist money. The night before, we ate at a place with a waitstaff that didn’t care and the chicken was raw. Numerous cats and one dog ate well that night but I didn’t. When I found Boufidis, it was a blessing. They are a restaurant that I’d go to daily. Oh yes. And they are in the perfect location about as close to the monasteries as any restaurant could be.

Wow! We should be allowed to give Boufidis a 6 star review. Having eaten here for 4 nights in a row tasting the Pork and Chicken Souvlaki as well as the Lamb Ribs and Salads, we have to say the food is exceptional. Quality cuisine backed by happy, smiling helpful staff and great prices make this Kastraki restaurant a real winner.

Disappointing for a nummer 1

It is the #1 restaurant but I believe that is due to its location as you come back from the monasteries. The meat served is on the skewers for a (too long) time, well in advance of your arrival so it is overcooked. Souvlaki of lamb was more bones than meat, There are better places in the area.

Amazing food served by wonderful people. Can’t wait to come again

I enjoyed every aspect of my visit here - the food was excellent, the view amazing, and the people were the best. They served a nice plate of food to a lovely kitty who was spending time on the patio, and give all of the neighborhood cats and dogs the leftover food every evening. They are the best!

Worst tavern in Greece I have ever been.

The worst tavern in Greece I have ever been. The food is not fresh and cooked terrible. Pork and chicken was very dry. Salad portions were small, bread and water were included in bill. Overpriced food for tourists, who haven’t idea of how Greek food should be. Hospitality was nice, but food was really disgusting. Place, that create worst imagination on Greek food.

Dinner in the mountains

We were staying next door in the Doupiani House Hotel a 5 min walk. The food was well cooked and served, we were served a desert and fruit at the end of the meal. Well worth a visit as it was lovely to sit out side and eat. We booked a table and then had to change the time, there was no fuss and it was changed for no charge.

Tasty and fresh

If you are a meat lover, this is your place. The most amazing grilled chicken and pork you can taste. The lamb is tasty also and they serve you a big portion with potatoes. The draft wine is tasty and on a good price. The most amazing thing is that is very near to the Meteora monastarys and after going up and down this restaurant is a nice place e to eat. When I get to the bathroom I was pleased also as it was very clean, which is not common in Greece! Totally recommended to visit this place!

Amazing family lunch

There were 2 adults and 4 children in the restaurant and everyone found something to eat. The food is freshly prepared with fresh ingredients, which you can see with your own eyes on the grill at the entrance. The food is delicious, the lamb is downright fantastic. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone passing by!

Great Greek grill food

Great local food and friendly service. I love BBQ food and this is one of the best bbq chicken I ever had. We ordered the chicken souvlaki and lamb chop which are cooked on the grill top. The chicken was marinated very well and cooked perfectly. Juicy and flavorful. The lamb chop is also really good. 😋

Fabulous dinner!

We enjoyed dinner here after Meteora sunset. Our server was so friendly and personable. Food was delectable: tender moist pork souvlaki, veal steak and shared Greek salad. Portions are huge, as we have found in many of our Greek dining experiences. When we were finished a very pleasant gentleman came around and offered us a sampling of their homemade Raki. It was wonderful! Would gladly dine here again if we return to Meteora.
