For those visiting new Galloway this is a must. I have visited numerous times and the food is always amazing as are the wide range of homemade cakes. It's exceptionally reasonable and the unusual surroundings of bone china with the ceiling from a ship are a must see. The only downside is that it closes for the winter. Come Easter... More

Getting milk on a Sunday afternoon in a small village can be a daunting experience, but dropping into Kitty's not only found us the milk we needed, but the key to a truly wonderful meal later in the day. The menu is simple, I had a steak and ale pie, and my wife had the roast lamb, and the food... More

Have wanted to visit Kitty's for some time but never managed to find the time until today. We booked High Tea and were delighted with the food and the service. The roast was lamb with Yorkshire pudding, mash, roasties, carrots and peas with the perfect amount of gravy and mint sauce on the side. My partner had the "Fat Nan"... More

We had a delicious meal, home made steak pie, roast potatoes, mash and veg, at tea time followed by equally delicious cake served by friendly staff in the most beautiful wood panelled tearoom. All the cakes looked so amazing it was almost impossible to decide which to have. Definitely on my list of places to revisit!

Nothing really compares to this star .It hankers back to an era that seems unfortunately to have been forgotten by many who try to start up eating places. If you get the chance pay it a visit. I promise you it will not disappoint any reasonable person.

The food is delicious, most of it is homemade by the owner. The staff are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We stopped for a light lunch and had homemade soup with crusty bread. We couldn't resist the cakes/deserts so indulged ourselves with scones and interestly named deserts.

Kitty's was recommended to us as a nice spot for an afternoon cuppa during our visit to this area. What a wonderful find! Not only did we have a PROPER cup of tea, we also had dinner. This was followed by scrumptious Lady Chatterley buns and a meringue and fresh cream confection. Friendly service, very good value. Highly recommended!

What can one say! This tea room is excellent. The ambience is fantastic. Unfortunately, as we had had a large breakfast we were only able to have a scone and a cake but is was so fresh. It was also fascinating speaking to the staff about the premises and the food. This is a must visit place any time you... More

We visited Kitty's Tea Room for a light lunch and tea at about 3:00 one afternoon while in New Galloway. The ambiance is wonderful. Lovely linen covered tables each set with different cups and saucers for tea, and lovely lace and chintz covered windows, with lots of extra decorations you would see in an English sitting room. Charming. We ordered... More

Description
The history surrounding Kitty's has made it unique, being set in a Victorian house, built by a retired sea captain circa 1840. The Captain commisioned local carpenters to put in place the wonderful panelled ceiling, removed from a ship which was broken up in nearby Palnackie Harbour. The origional panneled ceiling and walls, still survive to this day and I'm sure you'll agree the workmanship was second to none. Kitty is privilaged to own and run this small family buisness in such beautiful surroundings. And looks forward to welcoming you. OPEN SEVEN DAYS A WEEK FROM EASTER WEEKEND TO BEGINING OF NOVEMBER.
