As a previous reviewer mentioned do not look too closely at the decour. Outside looks just an ordinary old pub. But, it's a genuine fun pub and we were lucky enough to hit one of the nights when the skittle alley was in full swing. This created a nice atmosphere. We wanted good food and we certainly got that in... More

Found this place on trip advisor and was not disappointed. Great friendly place and just what we needed after a long drive. Very well worth a slight detour for delicious food, large portions and a warm welcome.

Do not be put off by the slightly shabby look or the seemingly traditional pub menu. This is straightforward food cooked exceptionally well. I have never tasted such a delicious cottage pie as I had for lunch yesterday - I could taste the quality of the home-minced beef, (which was relatively local from Newton Abbot). The cauliflower & stilton soup... More

Don't be put off by the exterior. Inside is a warm welcome the wood burner giving a nice warm environment. We had a range of food from the menu from starters as mains, and had our own odd requests and nothing was too much trouble. Theresa coped well with requests for gluten free main course for someone who doesn't eat... More

I regularly visit this pub with my mother, who used to live in the village. You are always assured of the most friendly welcome, nothing is ever too much trouble for the proprietors. Theresa is a wonderful cook and I have never had a bad meal there. It is just such a shame that not more people know of this... More

Lovely rustic rural pub, land lord and lady couldn't be more willing to help. Nice laid back feel to the place, food was excellent, fresh and piping hot. Good range of local beers, ales and ciders. After we ate we sat in front of the fire and enjoyed teas and coffees whilst watching TV. Owners came over and casually chatted... More

Great selection of beers and ciders. Cooked to order food is first class English food. Mine host always has a welcoming greeting. Well worth the diversion into this Somerset village, only 10 mins from main road.

We stayed in the old mill a mile from Ilton for the week over Christmas. The whole week was stunning and so relaxing. One of the lunch times we popped into Ilton to see what the local pub was like. We walked in and were met at the bar by some of the extremely friendly locals. The landlord was very... More
