Great night out for a group. Service friendly and attentive. Food reasonable but I've spent a bit of time in Spain so i'm picky. Flamenco show was the highlight - absolutely amazing and authentic. Would go again !

Go for the dinner and the flamenco show and you will not be disappointed! We ordered dinner a la carte and the croquettes, Spanish tortilla, paella and sangria were delicious. The paella for 2 ppl is huge and filled with seafood and meat. The flamenco show was amazing and it felt like we were back in Spain. Highly recommended we... More

First time to this restaurant, nice ambient & quite small, service was ok & friendly. We ordered tapas & the first lot came out warm & tasty. Second lot of food came out cold. My desert was churro which was tasty, my daughter ordered chocolate cake which was a Coles cake cut up, which was so obvious, they didn't try... More

I have been here many times, and never left disappointed. It is a little pricey, but then again, i have never found good, cheap food in Melbourne. The food here is fresh, tasty and very good. Plenty of choice on the food and wine menus, and great to see so many GF dishes marked on the menu. The service is... More

Cosy little venue with a vibrant, somewhat chaotic atmosphere. Delicious morsels of food, served by efficient and friendly staff. We were there on a Friday night and enjoyed a 45 minute high energy and passionate performance of flamenco dancing accompanied by superb guitar-playing and complicated rhythms. Wonderful!

The meal was good, bit overpriced. my partner and myself were the only ones there at 7:30pm. There was a loud thumping over us and it continued for almost an hour, The waitress was too busy on her mobile and didn't even come over to apologise or mention there were dance classes going on upstairs. A few other people walked... More

Hello, thank you for your feedback. Yes, as it states on the door we have a flamenco dance school on level 1 which runs Monday - Wednesday from 6pm - 8pm and it can get a little noisy at times. Appologies that this caused you discomfort. We take all measures to seat people in the back room where noise is... More

My bf and I wandered into Kanela late at night on our last day in Melbourne. We loved the quiet and cosy bar immediately. The girl who served us at the bar was stunningly beautiful. She helps her father run the place. Their sangria is just right, not too acidic and pungent, but not too sweet like a fruit juice... More

I loved the atmosphere of this tiny space, it is cosy and intimate. The food was nice, we chose the set meal where they serve you olives an bread, salad etc, then two tapas of your choice and a massive Paella to share (seafood and chicken), which was nice but not the nicest one I've had. The staff were friendly... More

Description
Full of unbridled Spanish spirit, this Melbourne restaurant serves a delicious variety of traditional tapas to the sights and sounds of fiery flamenco dancers. Regular performances by the Melburnian Arte Kanela dance troupe guarantee the spice isn't reserved for the cooking. The signature dish here is the much-loved classic paella: rice and seafood cooked slowly in a large, cast-iron pan. It's simple cooking at its best and the generous servings mean it's best shared between friends. Diners can choose to sit in the modest outdoor area or inside, where the dim red lighting casts a warm glow over the rustic wooden furnishings.
