I have been here a number of times over the last 30 or so years. It never changes, apart from there being fewer veterans. It is not a standard cafe, it is a tourist experience, and reviews should reflect that. There are mementos for sale (you don't have to buy anything) and photos of many of the veterans who have... Unbelievable experience... do not hesitate to discuss with Mme Arlette Gondrée, daughter of Mme Thérèse Gondrée and Mr. Georges Gondrée... first house liberated during d-day... A real experience, full of memorabilia and take time to grab a bite... the English platter...

We wanted to see this cafe because of its link to the Pegasus Bridge mission. We found it to be overpriced and the lady who served us was grumpy and very short with us.

This place nearly ruin our Pegasus Bridge experience. We went in for lunch. I made a picture of the colorful bar area and was snapped at by a woman behind the bar...okay, sat down with my husband to check the menu only to see items priced twice as much as the same in the surrounding towns (stayed in this area... I've been several times and have always had excellent service, good food / drink, all in surroundings that recall the events of 6 June 1944. I've also comments about Madam Grondee in other reviews and in my experience I have found her to be polite, courteous and helpful, not just to me and those with me but to others who... More

I popped in during my visit to Pegasus bridge and decided to look at the historic interior inside, I didn't know there was a silly "no photo" policy until I took some photos and got shouted at, to be honest it was rubbish and very basic tourist tat shop masquerading as a Cafe with one side had tables and the... On a recent tour of the DDay battlefields we visited both the Pegasus and Hors Bridges. Both were fantastic and the area was great to explore. The museum is very very interesting and well worth a visit. I wouldn't however waist you time or money in Cafe Gondree, it's over priced and the owner Madame Gondree is probably the rudest... More

Our third joyful experience of this unique and revered cafe, with the most elegant and courteous of hostesses and the best omelettes in the world, with Madame explaining that the secret was her mother's recipe combined with still using the original pan which had belonged to her mother. This is an experience beyond price, wonderful food and living history sustained... More

This venue hasn't changed since it was liberated on June 6th 1944! The cafe could be better presented and the grumpy person who served us could try and be more welcoming

Café Gondrée is located on the banks of the Caen Canal. Next to the bridge. Ideal place to have coffee and croissant on the terras in front of the café. With views on the bridge.
