Just fancied an Indian meal after 3 weeks in Laos. We are in Don Khon (4000 Islands, Laos) . Surprised to discover that there was an Indian restaurant in the neighbouring island. The 40 minutes walk through lovely villages and forest was worth it. Spicy...authentic Indian dishes satisfied the craving. Service good. Ambiance basic but it is in a tiny village on a tiny island in Laos! Restaurant filled up by the time we left for the walk back in darkness ) no tuk-tuk! Couldn’t have got back without the “Apple” Torch!More

We staying 50 days on dondet (lockdown).we spend (40 days) every night here sunset and dinner all nights.the portions were absolutely huge!well worth the price for sure. The food is delicious. We tried a variety of things.we tried all veg and non veg Curry both were...really yummy and good value for money. The kitchen is really good. To be honest the servie isn't great as the Lady serving doesn't really Care that much for his customers.you have to spend at least one sunset here during your time on Dondet. And the view for the sunset is amazing. Would definitely recommend. I love Hathim Restaurant.More

Amazing Indian veggie food! Got a thali twice here as it was so good, completely authentic tasting (they go to India for some of their ingredients) such a lovely friendly woman running the place, great sized portions, I was so thrilled with everything

Having read and heard so many positive reviews, having also lived in India myself and after seeing that the owner and cooks are Indian, I thought this would finally be the place. I order chicken jalfrezi - garlic, chopped chillies, chopped tomatoes, sugar, chicken and...salt in a pan. Steem it and go. What I was given was a joke - loads of cabbage (barely used in Indian cuisine), 4 pieces of chicken, kidney beans, soy sprouts and tasteless green chilli. The garlic naan was undercooked. The pineapple juice was 95% water (quite common in Laos). Check the photos - the first one is what chicken jalfrezi should look like. The second one is what I was given.More

If you love Indian food, you’ll love Hathim in Don Det. Thali was amazing and a ton of food. Masala tea well spiced and hot as it should be. The woman that owns the restaurant is friendly, kind, and always had a smile. Breakfast roti with...mango and chocolate to die for. Two thumbs way up. DONT MISS THIS GEM!More

You don’t come here for the river views, or the cool music. You come here because it’s the best Indian food in Laos. Take a curry, their mild and delicious. The naan is real naan like in India. And if you prefer your curry hot,...just ask and they’ll make it hot. And as a bonus: the family that run the place as the most gentle people you’ll meet.More

As my last meal in Laos, I have to say this was very good. A fair price too! I was the only one in the restaurant so my order was taken very quickly. I asked for a little bit spicy and the lady had it...made perfectly. That was just luck, of course. Went back to the hotel room stuffed!More

There’s a lot of reviews at different places on this island claiming to be the “best Indian on the island”. Having tried a couple of different ones we reckon this is the place to go! We had veggie curries and they were full of flavour...and perfect level of spice. The Naans are huge as well. We ate here on our last night and wish we’d found it sooner!More

Easy to find not far from the ferry to the mainland. Excellent vegetarian food, potato and eggplant curry was delicious, I can’t comment on the meat/fish, good selection of accompaniments. Food can take time to arrive during busy periods but it’s worth the wait as...it’s freshly prepared.More
