Booked the tour for kayaking, BBQ beach, waterfalls x2, rapids and sunset through Mr Mo travel agency. Great team leader and we had a fun group to do the tour with. Lots of kayaking involved and more trekking than we were aware of. A long...but enjoyable day. Breakfast included was also a bonus.More

I'm surprised at the bad reviews. Good cappuccino. Good wifi. Plugs. Good food. I particularly liked the Mac n cheese.

Stopped by this place for a quick afternoon toastie. Don’t bother, a single slither of ham. Too much bread and barely any cheese. I know it’s hard to live up to 7/11 toasties but this was a joke. Save your money.

Stopped here for breakfast one morning. The food took a very long time to arrive and when it did it was awful. Ordered the hangover breakfast (we were not actually hungover) with sausages. The sausages were cold so had obviously come out of the freezer...and not been heated through properly. When we tried to tell the server she didn't understand us so nothing happened. What else was on the plate were undercooked chips and very greasy fried onion. The second order was a cheese and tomato toastie, this must have taken close to 45mins to arrive! And when it arrived it looked like it had been thrown at the wall and then put on the plate. Maybe my expectations are too high but the pricea aren't that cheap...More

As a few other people have said, the kayaking trip with Mr. Mo's is a nightmare. Here's my experience: Went to the restaurant for the break (which was skimpy enough). My boyfriend wanted to bring his camera but said he didn't want to risk the...water damage. One of the tour guides overheard this and said that their bags were waterproof, so he should go get his camera. He got it, and we continued on our journey. We got into the kayaks and, right away, some people struggled. Several groups collided with trees and flipped their kayaks. We passed some girls who were pinned to a tree by their kayak, and we helped them out. The tour guide was nowhere to be found (it was one for 30 or so people, so that's not a surprise). We weren't told any information about anything during the tour, and we eventually arrived at the waterfall. At that point, since our group was so large, they had to make several trips in the van to take us back to our kayaks. We hadn't heard that we were kayaking back until this point in the day, and we were dreading it. We continued to wait at the waterfall for nearly 2 hours, and the sun started to set. We thought, surely, we'd not have to kayak back in the dark. Wrong. We were eventually driven back to where we'd left the kayaks, and another tour was there boarding a small ferry to take them back to the island. Their tour organizer, apparently, had already brought the kayaks back to Don Det. Ours, however, didn't do any of this and just expected us to kayak back because they were either too lazy or didn't have the resources to move the kayaks for us. At this point, there were only three of us from our original tour group left. My boyfriend and I ran and jumped on the ferry, refusing to kayak in the dark. It made no difference to the ferry driver but some guy from Mr. Mo's, when he saw this, started screaming at us to get off because we had to take our kayaks back to the island. For some reason, we eventually did get off. At that point, the ferry took off, and the tour guide started quickly kayaking away, not waiting for us. We had one two-person kayak between the three of us, it was dark, and we had no guide. The kayak, as well, had not been drained of water, so we tried to do that quickly. The third person with us didn't speak our language, so we tried to communicate what we were trying to do in vain. He seemed very anxious to get back, and just kept insisting that we start kayaking. So we put the kayak in the water and started paddling. I sat in the center (where there was no actual seat and I didn't have room to paddle), my boyfriend sat in the back, and the other guy sat in front. Now, this dude was panicking; in fairness, it was pretty scary to be kayaking in darkness when you don't know where you're going. We shouted at our guide to wait because we didn't know where we were going... and, of course, he didn't wait. After we kayaked for a few mins in our too-heavy kayak while one of the passengers was manically paddling without consulting with us, we capsized. In darkness, not knowing where we were. I lost my shoes and my sunglasses and my boyfriend's waterproof bag went into the water. We eventually all got back onto the tiny kayak. After about 45 mins (and with the help of a nice guy along the way), we finally made it back. We were all livid at this point, but we went back to our guesthouse to decompress. We were instructed to return the waterproof bag, and it was then that my boyfriend realized that his camera (and wallet) were swimming inside of the bag. Of course, the camera was done for. He angrily demanded to know why he'd been told the bag was waterproof when, clearly, it wasn't. The employee shrugged it off, so my boyfriend asked to speak to the manager. The manager (Mr. Mo) was away, so he got him on the phone. Mr. Mo proceeded to scream at my boyfriend, calling him a liar, and then just going off on what he thought of Westerners. He said my boyfriend would get nothing from him and then abruptly hung up on him. They gave us a bag of rice and sent us on the way. We demanded a refund for the tour and, after hassling them a second time, they agreed. As for the camera, that was a loss we had to eat... along with this horrible and pretty scary experience. It seems that a lot of people have had similar experiences. All in all, they don't care about you; they just want your money.More

Mr Mo's has the dubious honour of serving me the most expensive coffee I have had in Laos. To add insult to injury I was delivered with sweetened condensed milk by unfriendly staff as well. My wife's iced coffee was mostly ice.

Came here for breakfast and lunch and were disappointed with the lack of both good service and quality food. In particular we were annoyed with having to pay 10,000kip each for a very small and warm coffee. Wouldn’t recommend.

Looks like it should be really nice and the food even looked very nice but was not great at all, the veg spring rolls was soggy with oil we couldn’t eat them, I had the yellow coconut curry and it looked great but didn’t taste...too nice and my boyfriend had chilli and garlic spaghetti which was plane spaghetti with a few chillis ontop and a garlic clove. We didn’t eat much of anything, drinks and food took ages and service was very slow. It was a shame for such a beautiful location.More
