How to describe the so called « fouée »? Actually, « fouée » is a sort of a small pitta bread baked in firewood oven. LES CAVES DE MARSON is a troglodyte restaurant. You can see the fouee breads being cooked in the oven. The menu started with a traditional aperitif, the starter is a little mushroom pie followed by the main: a lot... More

We had an amazing meal here after we had seen the Horse show in the Cadre Noir in Saumur. The food was delicious and plenty of it plus the Service and the owner were really friendly and made us as a family of 7 feel very welcome. The meal included the wine in the price and it was a beautiful... More

On arrival at the restaurant we were very impressed. The beautiful garden and facade was a glimpse of the pleasant experience we were about to enjoy. After we were guided to our table by our friendly waitress we had time to settle and take in the beautiful setting. Our orders were then taken and drinks were promptly served. Service of... More

this is a fabulous troglodyte restaurant with the most wonderful menu. We have had several similar meals but this was definitely the best. The restaurant itself is fantastic and the owner is very friendly and helpful. There was so much food and its all great quality. You can see the fouee breads being cooked in the oven and the food... We made a reservation here thinking it would be a unique dinner for our family (including 2 kids ages 8, 10). I was expecting decent food in an interesting setting. We were pleasantly amazed at what a fabulous evening it turned out to be. The food was excellent and appealed to everyone at the table. The quantity was huge and... More

We were staying in Pornic which is a 4 hour drive away and we only knew of this restaurant from a TV programme with Luke Nyguen and his gastronomic travels in France. We booked online and had no problems with the reservation arriving a little early but spent it taking pictures of the fabulous chateau and its grounds nearby. The... More

We had a confirmed e-mail reservation for lunch on a Tuesday in May 27, 2014. After driving for 3 hours we arrived to find the restaurant was closed. A man came out of a building after we searched around and told us they are not open on Tuesday for lunch, only for dinner . "Too bad". The confirmed reservation didn't... More

It was very cool to have lunch in Les Caves de Marson. The bread was delicious and the accompaniments of pork and fish were very good. The caves are part of the history of the area and if there is a chance to have a meal there, do it!

This was truly a unique eating experience. The entire restaurant is enclosed in a cave. The entrance was enchanting, the lighting subdued but quite easy to see the interior. Food was well presented and excellent taste. Atmosphere unique and most comfortable. Hospitality was excellent. Thank you for a wonderful experience.
