A friend told us about this place. Telling us it was supposed to be very nice. Honestly! The dirtiest restaurant I've EVER been in. We found two very big curly black hairs in our food, that looked like either pubic or beard hair. One of...More

We went with friends for an early supper. The service was friendly. Our starters were delicious (scallops, crab, prawns) The men went for duck and sadly even using a steak knife, was tough. The gunpowder chicken and rose veal were delicious. Would visit again.

Celebrating friends/neighbors 70th a Birthday at the Boot was a great experience. Welcomed in the garden by our hosts with pimms & none alcohol cocktails served by very attentive young ladies. We then went into the dining area reserved for the party which was beautifully...More

We had a very pleasant evening meal here while staying by the canal. Food was absolutely excellent and the staff were delightful. We returned for lunch a couple of days later. It wasn't quite as good as the evening meal, but still very high quality....More

We visited The Boot after a gap of some years. Staff pleasant and attentive, food high standard gastropub fare. I particularly enjoyed the gunpowder chicken. Prices above average for a main course.

Description
"The Boot Inn is a very popular eaterie in this thriving village. You are likely to see married couples celebrating whatever they choose with a bottle of pop, as well as younger couples on early impress-me dates. The restaurant itself is beautiful, light and airy, decorated very simply with great sophistication. The crowd is comfortable and chatty. The Pacific Rim/Mediterranean menu is confident and inventive.

What's cooking?

For starters, try the asparagus spears with pancetta and cherry tomato salad, or the speared tuna nicoise. For mains, you could have the straight forward ribeye steak au poivre with chargrilled tomato and frites, or a complex dish like the spatchcock poussin with lemon, marsala, and rosemary and whipped potato. Very strong wine list."
