Visited with friends and stopped for a bite to eat , food very nice and good value. The place did have a slight smell of damp and after a while you got use to it. Staff friendly

Large country pub in a nice village right on a river in which a baby was receiving a formal christening - father holding baby and presumably vicar performing the ceremony standing in a flowing river. Perhaps a one off, but good beer selection and food menu.

We were 3 adults and 2 children. The friendly staff moved tables around to accommodate us. We ordered our food there was a very good choice both for the adults and children. The colouring pads were a great idea for the children. The food arrive and straight away you could see the care taken in it's presentation.

We had reasonable expectations but unfortunately the result was a very poor experience. I had the cod fish and chips which was very poor, the batter burnt with a very greasy finish and after taste and the chips were similar and standard frozen peas. The wife had scampi and again similar results to the cod. For the standard price for... More

It was packed when i visits in August, everyone outside enjoying the sunshine, by the side of the river. Dogs allowed too. Burgers were good, chilli con carne disappointing. Another time had the omelette which was super.

Great pub with an amazing garden, with its own stretch of river... No wonder its' called the Tickled Trout! The food was fantastic, my mother-in-law loved the atmosphere and the fact that an open fire was going when we arrived. Highly recommend to anyone who wants an authentic pub meal, with outstanding food! Amazing in the summer in the garden!!!... More

On a beautiful Autumn day we came across the Tickled Trout. The setting is stunning, right next to the river Stour, willow trees and a lovely old bridge. We had sandwiches for lunch. The bread was very fresh and the ham was thick and delicious. Mum had goat cheese and beetroot and it was also very fresh and delicious. Very... More

Visited this pub with friends after a 10 mile walk with the dogs. We were made very welcome and the Sunday lunch was fabulous. Wouldn't hesitate to return!

Despite the other comments about the food, the fish and chips I had, as pub food goes, was pretty decent and the almighty lump of sticky toffee pudding was very tasty! I agree the place looks tired and in need of a bit of revamp, to really embrace it's nice setting by the river!

Description
For more than 400 years, an Inn or Tavern has stood on the banks of the river Stour where the Tickled Trout now stands.

The Tickled Trout is typical of the distinctive Kentish architecture of the period and greets the visitor with a welcoming and unique 'olde world' charm.

We strive to maintain this charm of oak beamed bars and open fires for our customers.
Our well maintained gardens alondside the river Stour, provide the ideal setting for 'Al fresco' drinks and dining, with a superb choice from selective menus for which we are renowned.
