Small menu but great value. Really good honest pub food. Large portions for healthy appetites. Roast cod was delicious.

Great little pub a short walk from The Lugger Hotel. Casual pub food with typical English pub food which was very good and rather substantial in size. Very pleasant indeed.

We were staying in Portloe and thought it would be nice to eat locally, but decided to have a drink first. The first thing you notice is the smell of frying, and then as the food arrived for other guests you realised why. We were going to eat at around 8.30 pm, but as it was quite they had decided... Visited one night , limited choice of food, beer etc. Full of regulars, locals etc. Seemed like it couldn't have changed for 30 years and maybe that's what some of the attraction was, but it was not for us.

Had a couple of evening meals during our half week's stay in the village. Friendly staff, all very young, service quite good but a bit on the slow side. Choice of fresh fish very limited, considering the port is only 200 yards away. The same choice on each of two separate evenings. Nice local cider available, and wine choice although... More

We had been to Tregothnan House for an open garden. The hype was better than the garden, though an amazing place the rhoddies and azzies were some what over or wind burnt. So after a nice walk round we set off in search of lunch the coast and lunch and found the quiet port of Portloe one those places that... More

A short distance up the hill from Portloe is The Ship. Its run by friendly staff and keeps its beer well. There's a short menu that looked good - offering to fish of the day dishes (Whole sole or Crab Soup) and Sunday roast or sandwiches. Cosy, polished interior and just across the narrow road a pretty garden set in... More

We visited The Ship Inn one evening as we were staying in Portloe and we were glad we did. It is a locals pub with a good atmosphere and superb food. I had the fish and chips which were absolutely unbelievable...thick white fish with delicate batter and chips that were crispy on the outside and soft fluffy potato on the... More

As we were staying locally we visited the Ship Inn, a typical pub with atmosphere and enjoyed a very good meal. They served good beer and a very acceptable range of wine by the glass and all reasonably priced.
