I booked this as a gift for 2 members of my family and a few of us went with them. We were all extremely disappointed. The room we were out in was completely lacking in atmosphere and dated. White walls and white tablecloths and completely souless with no view. The food was very boring and the cakes were all a... More

My husband and I had afternoon tea here on a travelzoo deal and felt very disappointed with it. Yes it was on a deal and had we paid full price I would have wanted my money back and left it. The sandwich selection was poor I believe houmous is a dip not a sandwich filler also they were not freshly... More

Visited for afternoon tea on a beautiful autumn day. The hotel lovely with pleasant views, the lady that served us was very nice but the afternoon tea could only be described as mediocre. The sandwiches were plain and the "cakes" were thoroughly disappointing.

This was the perfect place to reflect on our visit to Hilltop while enjoying the stunning views that inspired Beatrix Potter. It was warm and cosy but has a lovely outdoor seating area for when it isn't raining! The service was unrushed rather than slow and the waiter was very helpful. The coffee was excellent as was the hot chocolate... More

Very friendly staff. Restaurant has good views into small valley. Scones, jam an cream excellent. Have it with Hot Chocolate. When we were there we were given advise that DB&B is £50 each during the winter months - bargain!

For my review of the restaurant see my review of the hotel! Sorry about that! I recommend this place with excellent service. There's clearly a chef in the background, do not be put off by the cafe type menus. Only the wine/drinks list needs a bit of sophistication and the restaurant would be really really good

A lovely well maintained hotel with views across the fells. A warm welcome even though there are few directions of where to go once in the hotel. Comfortable seating and good range of hot drinks. Service was slow as there only seemed to be one young member of staff doing everything. We had 2 hot chocolates with cream. The till... More

After staying last year and having outstanding food and a lovely stay we returned this year for a short break to find that the quality of food had dropped dramatically , our first nights 3 course meal was disappointing as there was next to no meat on our braised short rib just a lot of fat and there was barely... After reading the previous Afternoon Tea reviews I was really looking forward to it. I was given a gift voucher for my 50th Birthday and thought it would be a treat. The sandwiches were nice, but the scones were not freshly baked, one was rock hard, the next was cold and the hot one had obviously been microwaved at the... More
