Generous servings of unpretentious pub food - I had beer battered fish and chips - outside on the balcony in the sun. We looked straight out over the ocean and the fresh air plus the sound of the surf nearly put me to sleep..

We were travelling from Melbourne to Apollo Bay, and decided to stop here for lunch. As we have done many many times over the years Well……..very disappointing. Lunch for two was $70 for two mains. My husbands steak was paper thin, ( what you would...have in a steak sandwich ) and he requested med/rare, and a well done steak arrived at the table. Salad consisted of mixed salad leaves. Nothing else……no tomato, no red onion, no cucumber, nothing. Not much input from the chef! My Chicken Parma, was not hot, and quite soggy. Again, the same disappointing salad. Sorry guys, you have lost these customers. Will eat at the General Store close by next time. We don’t pay these prices in the city.More
We had lunch here, oh and a drink another day too! 🤭what a view! The food was delishous and nothing wrong with the bevvies either! Highly recommend dropping in here! 😋
Perfect for families. Walked straight in on Easter Sunday. Awesome views. Couldn’t fault it. Exactly what we were looking for. Not flash or gourmet but great casual pub experience both service and food.
Husband and I with our 3 young children staying at the Big4 caravan park which is walking distance to the Wye Pub. Wanted to be organised and book a table ahead but unable to locate a phone number nor can you book online. (Apparently they...don’t take bookings - walk in only) Walked in at 5.15pm and struggled to find a table. It was a freezing cold night so outside with young children not favourable. There was however a very long table in the centre of the room with 2x people sitting at it. We asked if we could sit at one end, and the woman replied, “ no we have reserved this table” Upon enquiring to the very young staff about this reservation and how I was unable to make a one, they told me that “people are free to come and go whenever they like and can sit where ever they like” My husband then approached the couple to explain and they said they were waiting on a larger party to arrive. If the pub just allowed table booking, this would mitigate these conflicts between patrons. Ordered 2x kids spaghetti 1x kids fish and chips, 1x specials curry and 1x squid ink pasta. All terrible. (Except the fish, which was fresh) The spaghetti was like tinned spaghetti, the curry was watery and flavourless and the pasta had absolutely no flavour at all. Paid top dollar for awful food! Would not recommend to others. Spent way too much money for dinner and a round of drinks for a family of 5. You’re better off driving 30 mins extra either way to Apollo Bay or Lorne!!More
STOP. DO NOT PROCEED. Awful food. Ordered spaghetti bolognaise tasted and looked like it came from a can. The fish we also ordered was burnt- probably cooked in oil that needed changing. Way overpriced drinks. No local beer. One pint cost up to $18,50. Better...off driving to Lorne or Apollo Bay or eating in.More
Awful food. Only thing going for this place is the view on the ocean. No regular beers available. Expensive $18 for a pot of beer ! No competition here though do I guess they don’t need to improve. I’m
for one of the top places along the coast. The view is priceless, the staff are friendly, but the food is very average. If the quality of the food could be improved, this place would be dynamite.
For a small town pub, this place offers fairly decent vegan food. I particularly enjoyed the deep-fried oyster mushrooms. My daughter had a vegan burger, and although the bun itself was a bit hard, the burger patty was better than expected. It was worth the...visit.More
Great views, friendly staff. Had been looking forward to dining here based on word of mouth, and really wanted to like it but was disappointed by the food. The Pepperonata Tartlet (main for $37) was probably not more than 6 inches in diameter - it...was really an entree size, in no way a full main meal and not comparable to the mains the other members of my group ordered. To their credit, the staff offered to swap it for another main without any fuss when I complained. The fish and chips main was a good size, but hard to find the fish amongst the huge amount of batter. Likewise for the Crispy Fried Oyster Mushrooms side - the batter dominated and overpowered the mushrooms. The ocean trout main was also a good size, but uninspiring as the fish was well overcooked and dry (at least in two of our party's dishes), losing the tender juiciness of ocean trout when that's just cooked enough. The side of chips and side fennel salad were both ok. Salad ingredients in the mains were fresh enough, but otherwise not out of the ordinary. In general, overpriced for the quality of food.More
Was in Wye River for a family Reunion visited the hotel for a couple meals and was very happy with each. Very tasty, service was fast and staff were very happy. The ambience of the hotel was relaxing and comfortable Definitely go again if I'm...in the areaMore
Very, very disappointed with our meal at this hotel. Used to love going to to this venue as the views are spectacular and the food used to be very good. I understand there are staffing issues at most eateries at the moment and that could...explain the rather limited menu but is NOT an excuse for a poor quality meal. The chips accompanying our meals were barely warm and the side salad consisted of just green leaves, no tomato or cucumber. Fish was over cooked and my husband’s Parma was wafer thin. I gave a score of 2/5 as the view is still great but sadly we won’t be returning to eat at this hotel again.More
Our experience at Wye Beach Hotel was lovely. The staff were friendly, we went at the beginning of lunch so it wasn't too busy on a Sunday. Our table of 5 all had great meals and they were fairly quick to come out. It helped...that it was a gorgeous day and we could sit outside in the sun. We also had two dogs with us which wasn't a problem on the deck. Can recommend!More
The Hotel was cold, the heating is inadequate. It is also dirty. The toilets need a good scrub, broken floor tiles need replacing and they should use table numbers not tacky stickers. The barmaid kept wiping her nose and played with her hair the whole...time we were there. They started counting the till 1/2 an hour before the advertised closing time. My husband’s chips were cold, and my side salad consisted of lettuce in oil! We would not go back there.More
$30 roast, served luke warm, plate cold, meat tough and a pathetic effort. Others with us were not impressed with their meals, $40 for a steak which was nice with a lack lustre salad consisting of green leaves only. Pub is tired and so is...the chef. Apparently it has just been sold so chef( dog stiffener ) may be pissed off. It has loads of room for improvement including the tired toilets with dirty windows. Yuppy beers on tap, no CUB beers on tap only packaged available which is unfortunate. Great selection of wine. Bar staff excellent. Paul Brown the current owner has obviously had enough. Hopefully will get some needed enthusiasm from new owner. Always has been brilliant in the past.More
