Nice warm atmosphere with simple pine slat walls. Good Belgian beer on tap. Food could be described as Japanese tapas style dishes, and all delicious. Try the grilled squid legs! I also was served the largest oyster I've ever eaten - but full of flavor.

Opens in the winter season only. Cozy atmosphere but not too compact. Good Japanese dishes with good selection of drinks. Price range, I would say it’s medium. The weekend lunch is superb.

Run by the Belgian beer importer in Japan. Reasonably priced dishes. Ranging from a plate of beef steak, sashimi and various hot pots. For my family, this restaurant has earned a must visit restaurant around the area.

Master Chef and passionate servers make this a must go to spot for Rusutsu Dining. Really quality food and people. Make a reservation! Leave room for the cheese cake dessert =)

This is a little gem of a restaurant!! We went as a group so got a range of dishes and all shared and there wasn't a bad one among them. Particular highlights were: - spare ribs - shabu shabu - beef stew - great quality...sashimi - the pate. My god the pate! We had a mixture of Japanese dishes as well as non-Japanese and the quality was high and consistent throughout. This was all washed down with great quality craft beers from owner Paul's custom made beer fridge. On top of all this the service was great - so we had a great night! Can't fault it - definite a high recommendation!More

Nigiri Sushi was fresh, cold and tasty. The hot pot was reasonable price, but not when you have to buy a min of 2 orders. Service was quick, but cleanup of our plates at end of meal never happened. Not great trying to talk with...dirty dishes and seafood remnants hanging around.More

Rusutsu Sakaba is the perfect place to have a nice dinner. The staff is very friendly and ready to help you with everything. The food is served in perfect time. They have a large range of local craft beers and sake. They serve the best...fresh seafood, grilled meat and even roast chicken. Also vegetarian-minded, there are some great options you can choose from, for example: various salads (I highly recommend the Ramen salad), the fried tempura,... They recently opened a new bar with Japanese whiskey, gin and rum, which is definitely a plus to the restaurant. Highly recommendedMore

We were at Sakaba during our last night at skiing at Rusutsu close to New Year’s. It was a very short walk from Westin and a stone’s throw from Seicomart. We ordered their salad, fried chicken, gyoza, pork ribs, sashimi, garlic bread etc. and some...dessert as well. We had beer to along with the meal. I would say that it was a very enjoyable meal but not the best in Rusutsu after trying around the other restaurants.More

This place is great. Excellent craft beer. Just a short walk from Rutsutsu resort, across the road. Try the pork rib. We had fish and chips, good for the kids, winter salad , tempura vegetables all great. We went 2 nights in a row. Better...book ahead most restaurants are quite small.More

Sakaba is a lovely Izakaya located across the road from the main Rusutsu resort. This was the best meal we had in Rusutsu, including the fancy hotel restaurants. The food was fast, fresh, and delicious. They also have a range of craft beers and sake....Service was excellent and cheerful, the atmosphere was nice. Price wise, Sakaba is mid to high for most menu items, but the food really is delicious and worth it. It's certainly no more exepensive than the hotel restuarants.More

Very impressed with the food here. The seafood is fresh and the atmosphere is warm. Daily seafood specials along with delicious appetizers, hot pot (shabu shabu), wide variety of Sake and local craft beer. I highly recommend the salads, daily seafood specials and sashimi platers....The Rusutsu Pork Yakitori melts in your mouth...incredible. Have been here multiple times and will definitely be coming back.More

We found this amazing gem just outside the Rusutsu resort. Excellent seafood & craft beer. The sashimi is not to be missed. Another awesome dish is the oysters prepared “fisherman style”, where the oysters are boiled in a tin box table side. Absolutely delicious!
