Good food if you are looking for locally produced foods. Greens from Esteli and surroundings and locally made nacatamales. Try the potatoe wedges very nice. Even if you don't want a single meal you can mix and match....

If you are looking for a cozy place to unwind and relax, Café Luz y Luna is perfect. Enjoy feeling welcomed by courteous and friendly staff. The menu offers quite a bit for drink options besides coffee, try a Nica beer with your coffee. A liter of Victoria is 55 córdobas or try a Mytos pale ale for 75 córdobas/bottle.... More

Being the best bar in town is not hard as there is not much to do. But... the papas fritas are a must eat! We were fortunate to have live music two nights in a row. Beautiful Spanish songs with guitar for almost two hours. With a cold Toña a good place to unwind after an active day!

The cafe, the hostel and the tree huggers tourist information are run by a social organisation that is supporting children projects in the surroundings of Esteli and is offering fair wages to the Nicaraguans who work there. It's all set next to each other. You can book all kind of tours from there, which are done by locals. The benefits... More

Not a local hang out, but there's alcoholic drinks as well as coffee, breakfast food, fajitas, burritos, fries. A tad overpriced. There's a selection of chocolate bars and maps in the front. I like how a portion of the profits goes toward different community projects, such as a book mobile. The owners also run a great tourist agency, Tree Huggers,... More

Cafe Luz y Luna is a nice place to meet people. There are a lot of travelers but as wel locals who come for a beer or cofee. Really enjoyed listening to guitar music and singing by, firstly two Nicaraguans, and secondly, a Scottish guy who lives in Nicaragua. Lovely atmosphere. We ate the aubergine bake and the lentil dish. Both delicious and very reasonably priced.

Please don't go here the food is overpriced, it's awful, we had hummus??? It was flavourless mush, nachos that in reality was a small bowl of crisps and a beer, we complained but were greeted with a shrug of the shoulders, we carried on complaining just to be ignored, the food was rubbish the staff rubbish, in over 150 reviews... We’re so sorry to hear that you have expressed so literally, your alleged, poor “awful” food experience at Cafe Luz. Our vegetarian nachos dish is the most popular we have on the menu, alongside the original cajun fries, and it’s built of fresh corn chips, with a daily-made fresh tomato salsa with locally-made fresh mozzarella cheese our standard and delicious... The food was okay here but nothing more. The salad I had was prepared poorly enough and overdressed. The veggie option my wife had was more successful. All in all a mixed bag.

Cafe Luz Y Luna is a hopping place where locals and international travelers mingle for coffee in the afternoons and beer in the evening. I have not eaten there, but the coffee and beer is excellent. They even offer a local microbrew. The service is nice and even though so many of the visitors come from the local expat community,... More
