Good portions but thought the food was just alright. Perhaps we weren't used to having just big portion of carbs. The cold soba tastes better but it's winter, hot food is more comforting

Heard about this place from some friends on the trip. The horse sashimi made me curious! There was no-one in there when we got a seat, but that changed soon after and there was no room left within half an hour. The food was incredible, the service was excellent and the costs were very reasonable. If you want freshly prepared... More

It seems you need to book to be guaranteed a table during the season - we travelled near the end of season and you still need to get in early 6pm or book. We waited a little until we were offered a table to share. The table could seat 8, and had only 1 small Aus lady eating at it.... More

Reasonably wide range of Japanese food choices, including noodles (soba, udon) and rice based meals too. Food was good but not something to write home about. Service was great as well, and staff were friendly. Came during off peak season without a booking, and was luck enough to get a table without too much waiting - the staff were nice... More

Popular noodle restaurant, soba made fresh on site. Beautiful clear broth with complex but pure taste. Most of our table had this or udon with pork and all enjoyed, whilst I really liked the soba with Japanese mushrooms which gave it a lovely earthy flavour. Tempura veges were tasty as entree after enjoying some complimentary nibble snacks. Warm sake went... More

Really good light soba. Simple warm food that tastes great in heavy snow. You will need to book at least a day in advance as this place is packed each evening.

We ate at Maeda twice during our ski holiday in Hakuba. Great food, simple and authentic. Both times we had to wait about 20 minutes as there is no booking but that adds to the experience charring to others in the foyer. Dinner sets are fine, try the warm saki. Not so sure about the horse meat sashimi, must be... More

We had an early booking and shared some of the lovely dishes on offer, capped off with hot sake. The service was fast and friendly, a great night overall.

Loved everything about this restaurant. The vegetable tempura was to die for, same for the soba noodles. I would recommend booking.
