I visited this place with my wife and a couple of friends in early May of 2018. We were doing a roadtrip from Sapporo to Lake Toya, then back to Sapporo via Otaru. After some sightseeing in and around Lake Toya, we were ready for...a meal, so I pulled up Google maps. We were pleasantly surprised to find that this place was coming up and had received some pretty decent reviews. It's literally just a building on the side of a mountain. From what I gathered speaking to the people who served us, many of the mushrooms/fungi that are served in their ramen are harvested in the mountains behind the restaurant. It doesn't get any fresher than that, and it's reflected in the quality and flavors of their food. I had the mushroom ramen with the miso broth, which I really enjoyed. Full disclosure, I love ramen, and whenever in Japan, I frequent places like Ichiran, Ippudo, small mom&pop stands as well as local yatai. One might say my ramen preferences are less than discriminatory, but I have had bad ramen in the past. This place was quite good. IMO clearly better than Ichiran and Ippudo. The location of this shop is both its blessing and curse. The fresh, local ingredients and diligent work of the owner/staff is what makes this place so special, however because it is off the beaten path, they probably get much less traffic than they deserve. If you are fortunate enough to be in the area and love ramen, I highly recommend it. They open at 11am and close once they've sold out of broth.More
