We dined at Appellation, the restaurant at the boutique hotel The Louise, the first night of our stay at that venue. We booked the meal weeks ahead of our stay via email. I don’t know for certain, but assume reservations are required. The entrance is...More

We went as a group of thee couples on a Thursday night . It's degustation with only four courses. The first course (Kingfish Chervice cured in citrus) was excellent but it was down hill from there on. The rest of the food was mediocre and...More

We recently dined here to celebrate a special birthday. The restaurant came highly recommended and we weren't disappointed. We had the degustation menu and, although not cheap, it was one of the best meals we have tasted anywhere. We can't wait to go back.

Beautiful venue, interesting menu but during the second course I found a live worm in my food. They were nice enough to replace the course and give the meal to me free of charge. But this is the last thing I'd expect in such a...More

First up........expensive. Yes, four courses and wine pairing will set you back just under $400 per couple. Upwards from there if you add a pre-dinner drink or finish off with a coffee. Worth it? ........you bet! A very fine degustation and excellent wine pairing. Be...More

We sat out in the rear courtyard and ordered from the bar food menu. A Charcuterie platter followed by yummy burgers were really nice. There is a full wine list with plenty of choice on offer. Next time we visit we'll try the restaurant option.,

Questions & Answers
Well, I would firstly like to know how far this restaurant is from the Barossa Weintal Hotel/Motel. We do not know the area at all. Then I would like to ask if you are open for evening dining. I have read the reviews of yours and other restaurants in the area, and what strikes me about many of them is that 'degustation' and 'sharing plates' seem to be quite popular. We are not great fans of either and we will be visiting the Barossa with some friends from New York, so we want it to be special, and I think that they are quite conventional diners. Also some of the reviews mention bad service from many quite upmarket restaurants. Interesting! One often discounts many of the rabid comments offered up - but bad service is one that is frequently noted. Your reviews do not get mentioned in this regard. We have discovered that the weekend in March that we are meeting on is particularly busy as it is a long weekend!! so we have found it difficult to find accommodation. So I imagine we should book well in advance for dinner at a specific time and date. Do you have two sittings for dinner service or only one? These are a lot of questions I know - but we know nothing about the Barossa at all, as we live in Perth, the home also of good wine and food!! We prefer to book over the phone rather than on-line. Is this also OK? I not that some restaurants now do on-line bookings as a matter of course. . Many thanks. Kind regards.

Food, wine, luxury accommodation and a genuine welcome await. Just one hour from Adelaide and set atop a gentle hill, Appellation at The Louise is highly regarded as one of Australia's finest restaurants led by chef Ryan Edwards. With a passion for real, fresh local ingredients, Ryan and his team are guided by the rhythms of the seasons - harvesting from their kitchen garden, baking their own breads, butchering and curing their own meats - and see wine and food as the most natural of partners. A four course seasonal menu is available nightly, except on a Tuesday when it's Local's Night where our chefs choose your three course set menu. An award-winning wine list of over 400 listings celebrating local artisans, emerging stars and established masters offers much choice to guests. Surrounded by vineyards in a truly memorable setting, Appellation is a dining destination worthy of a detour. Appellation is co-located with The Louise luxury vineyard retreat.
